Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis

I'm currently playing the PC version of Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis having last played it through in 1993!

I've got to the dig site in North Africa so far.

It is absolutely brilliant and I'm enjoying it much much more than I did originally - I think I'm better as dealing with puzzles nowadays!

Graphically its still lovely, the locations are really 'Indiana Jones' and the scripting and characters knock blocks off of most 'modern' games. I have more or less stopped playing KOTOR completely because, dare I say it, this game is better and I've got to finish it first.

Best game this year (so far)!! ;)

Using ScummVM? If so, fiddling with the graphics filters can make it look all the lovelier. If you work out how to get the midi modes working and use the mixed adlib/midi, it sounds incredible (be warned though, the default volume levels are utterly whacked).

I love this game. I've completed it a ridiculous amount of times on all three paths. When I get some free time I'm going to go for maximum IQ points.

I finished this game two or three times each on the "wits" and "team" modes, but both times I played it through on "fists", i got stuck at the same place, inside the cretan (?i think?) temple, just before the submarine is going to take me to Atlantis. I cant remember the exact problem I was having, because it was about 10 years ago now, but I think there was a great, big fat guard that I couldn't beat up because he just had too much energy.. couldn't even dent him, IIRC.

I think you need to either kill him by whipping a stalactite onto his head, or by rolling an enormous boulder over him with a ship-rib.

Fun thing about the fists path - you actually barely need to fight at all; there's an alternative way around almost every battle.

I was sure there must be some clever way round that fight, never found it though. Quite tempted to put it through SCUMMVM and finish of the last little bit i never quite managed.

Am i right in remembering that Atlantis is the same, regardless of which path you play on?

Basically, yeah. Your inventory will have certain hangovers from the path you chose though - for example, having to use the rubber comb/string/cloth instead of the orichalum detector.
