Xbox Game Pass - GUIDE TO BEST DEAL IN FIRST POST

Potion Craft is nice little Saturday afternoon relaxathon.

Involves you discovering new potions via trying out ingredient combinations, and navigating through a 'potion map'.

Once you've made potions you can then sell these to punters who will usually be requesting quite specific potions.

It's all very cozy and quite tactile to play.

We found it pretty unplayable on the Xbox (ie on the living room TV). Really gives massive “only tested on a desktop monitor” vibes. Gave up pretty quickly.

I was playing a game and it suddenly stopped and asked me to insert a game disc, is that a sign I lost my internet connection for a minute or something?

Most likely. Is the Xbox you are using set as your primary Xbox?

If it isn't and you lose connection then I believe you can't play game pass until you reconnect.

Changing it to your primary Xbox should sort that (if you haven't already).

Oh FFS, for some reason my codes won’t stack (CD keys). My guess is that the code I had from two years ago when I forgot to disable the extra months is a different region to the two I’ve just bought..on CS chat with support, but also thinking that was a mistake. Might just leave chat, upgrade the 12 months and take the small hit.

It shouldn't make a difference if you've bought from different regions previously. I originally bough UK codes, but when I renewed last summer it was using Turkish codes (12 of them!) and they were all accepted without issue.

Is it perhaps a bad code you bought (it happens sometimes)? What was the error message you got when trying to redeem it?

Thanks, I bought my Series S first and predictably it was set as my home console. I changed it to the Series X and I will see what happens.

I just don't think the three regions match, causing the error. I've just gone for 12 months and will keep the codes until then.

Hmm, it'll be interesting to hear the outcome from this then, because I'd be surprised if their system cared. I mean I redeemed an Argentina-only game code over the weekend (using a VPN) but to do that I have to sign-in to my very much UK MS account, yet it still works without issue. I would've thought the Live codes would be the same, regardless of the timing.

Actually, were you using a VPN to enter the codes, and did you change the country between inputting them? What error message were you getting?

No VPN, just direct through the Xbox. Annoyingly — and predictably — I tried it through my laptop just now and it wants to redeem it for four months of GPU. Oh well. Could be a lot worse. I'm paranoid about my account to get banned for using CD Keys and Eneba at any given moment anyway, so as long as it works, I'm good with 12 months of GPU for under £50.

They can't ban you for that because they get the codes FROM Microsoft. If they were stolen or somehow illicitly generated it'd be a worry.

If you have an active GPU subscription, you can't redeem a gold code. Those will automatically convert to a far shorter GPU period. You have to wait until your GPU subscription runs out, then activate the gold code, and THEN convert that gold subscription to GPU.

Eneba’s just a marketplace of sellers isn’t it? Codes could come from anywhere.

They'd have had a G2A style explosion of awful reviews and backlash by now if they were. I'm pretty sure those on G2A were legit but we're bought with stolen credit cards which is why the codes were all revoked.

Quite possibly but I’m not sure you can guarantee the source of the codes in the same way you can with e.g. ShopTo.

I'm really enjoying Potion Craft; there's a genuine tactile feel to grinding down ingredients, and turning the pages of the potion book. I agree it definitely has a relaxed vibe, and I love the art style. I'm glad it's coming to Switch, as I think it will work really well played handheld.

It is, yes. There are quite a few reseller markets, of which Kinguin & G2A (which are the same company) are the most notorious.

As with any reseller site, you pays your money and takes your chances.

The two best Personae,* I can't recommend them enough. Technically showing their age, but they're just top-tier JRPG/Life Simulation hybrids, and their music and ambiance still impress. Absolutely get on them if they appeal at all!

*well, I have a mild preference for FES over P3P, despite the free control and extra character, but still
