Which classics have you still not seen?

So I just started watching Apollo 13 on Netflix, a film I've never seen before (or so I thought, it does feel now like I've seen it already but I can't recall anything really).

I have a loooot to catch up on. I've never seen the Godfather films, nor the Alien films, or in terms of TV shows for example the Sopranos or X-Files. (This mafia and sci-fi parallel was pure coincidence just now, haha). And there are many, many more. In 2015 I finally watched Breaking Bad, and last year I saw Psycho for the first time, but generally progress is slow.

What do you still need to see?

You've both got some great films to catch up on there. Don't think there's much I haven't seen from the 70s onwards that are considered classics, but I always think I should make an effort with older films, especially Powell and Pressburger,  and David Lean films.

I just remembered I also watched the Terminator films for the first time last year (well, I kind of started with the latest one when it was released in 2015, cause I was on vacation with friends and they all wanted to see it). And also a few months ago I saw The Thing.

In terms of Hitchcock I still really need to see The Birds, and Rear Window (I've seen the first half of the latter at uni once, never got around to watching the rest myself but really want to.)

After a brief browse through my Letterboxd watchlist to remind me:

Any of David Lynch's films

Most horror films (I go NOPE to pretty much anything stronger than Shaun of the Dead, Ghostbusters or the League of Gentlemen Xmas special...)

On the Waterfront

The Sound of Music

Gone with the Wind

Night of the Hunter

Secrets and Lies

Cool Hand Luke

West Side Story

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Marathon Man

Deliverance

Scarface

Do the Right Thing

Se7en

Any Fast and the Furious film (well maybe these aren't exactly classics, but action fans speak fairly highly of the ones since 5...)

I see you haven't added Big Trouble in Little China to that list  :hmm:

I still also need to see most of those, apart from some of Lynch's stuff, Waterfront, Rocky Horror and Se7en. Oh and I've seen some more horror and a few of the Fast and the Furious films (I think 1, 2 and 5).

Scarface is one of those classics that I really really need to see. Oh and Apocalypse now. Or any Rocky movie. Or, or, or...

I'm sorry! I shall henceforth refer back to this thread, so now it is on the list, so to speak!

The Lady Vanishes

Twelve Angry Mrn

Tokyo Story

Seven Samurai

Rashomon

Night of the Hunter

*gasp* never thought the day would come! I've seen a classic you haven't!

I also haven't seen Jaws yet, I did start it once but wasn't in the mood after all so turned it off after 5 minutes. Still planning on giving it another go.

Lawrence of Arabia really is increeeeedibly long. But worth it!

Much like Ben Hur. They drag a bit of course, but especially with Ben Hur I was extremely impressed by the mise-en-scène. Beautiful film.

I've seen all of the classics I've wanted to watch. There are a few I've never seen, as I have no interest in them such as the Studio Ghibli films.

In terms of popular culture the obvious ones I'm missing are the Harry Potter films. I've never seen them, or read the books.
