Intrigued by Savannah Marshall Vs Clarissa Shields this weekend, mostly because of the beef hyping the fight (no matter how engineered, beef sells innit)

Puncher Vs Technician is a bit of an over-simplification but hopefully it proves worthy of the hype and turns out to be an entertaining bout.

What a fight. I had it far closer than two of the judges and felt Marshall won the later rounds.

It was close but Shields edged it.

My nephew won again tonight fighting against an awkward wee bastard. Unanimous. So proud (again)1. He's fighting again next month. Need to work on his power shots for the next month.

I was sad I couldn't make it tonight, I'm very sick (it was inside Hampden stadium) but it was live streamed on a boxing channel.

I feel it would have been really interesting with three minute rounds.  Two minutes suits someone who is fast and slick, I wonder if 6x3 or 8x3 rounds would have gone differently to the 10x2.   Academic I guess, but it's just one of those differences. Shields looked great.

Didn't stay up for the card across the pond, but Wilder with a brutal one punch KO of Helenius in the first round reminding the world he still exists and Caleb Plant chinning Andre Dirrell with what's probably going to be the KO of the year were worth seeing.

It’s a really interesting point about the two minute rounds because that sixty seconds must make a huge difference in output / recovery. Marshall naturally had much more success once Shields’ pace dropped off, so would have been interesting to see how different their tactics would have been.

Hopefully women’s boxing moves to three minute rounds soon enough. It’s not like there aren’t enough athletes capable of making the switch. So many women manage fine with five minute rounds in MMA, so having two minute rounds in boxing feels more than a bit antiquated.

Fury v Chisora is an odd trilogy fight to make when Fury is 2-0 up and the other fights weren't terribly close, were a long time ago, and Chisora has done nothing recently to make him a name at Fury's level.

Sure it will make a nice few quid but it's a sporting irrelevance.

When I got a Ticketmaster email about it I honestly thought it was a glitch in the system and it was some sort of old email. Zero point in this fight (apart from some easy money obv).

Want a cape like Chisora’s for Christmas Day!

There was one replay of Dubois stepping back that looked really bad. Dipped out to watch the end of the football so not sure if they showed more. Good win for him though, can get scanned and hopefully be back in the spring.
