Formula E

We've got other Motorsport covered so we'll have a thread for this too.

The Paris is nearing its end and for the second race in a row Jean Eric Vergne has continued the fine tradition he had in F1 of not finishing for the second race in a row. Championship battle appears to be between Sebastien Buemi and Lucas Di Grassi (who's Audi reminds me of the old multi coloured Benetton's) although Di Grassi is down in 17th this time out with Buemi being hardly challenged for the lead

And Did Grassi has just had a big lock up and gone straight into the wall, commentators believed he was pushing for fastest lap, do they get points for that? (The person who gets pole gets 3 points)

Not sure what Guttierez (yes that one) was trying to do at the end there but he's bunched up about 8 cars behind him as the safety car crossed the line

Berlin GP is on shortly where there's two races. Did Grassi is on pole for race 1 whilst championship leader Sebastien Buemi could only manage 14th on the grid

So after managing to get from 14th on the grid and finishing 5th in race 1, Buemi has been disqualified due to the tyre temperatures on his car (s?) Being too low. Which must be a huge relief for Di Grassi who didn't manage to keep ahold of 1sr position and ultimately finished 2nd

Thought the Brooklyn ePrix brought the racing back to at least a decent level. It'd all been sort of hum drum since Mexico, which is out of sorts for Formula e. Although at least F1 has picked up the slack.

Looking forward MontrEal and I see that just how the series would shift the channels for the final race from ITV4 to ITV, we get the same here but Channel 5 have shifted it to Spike because they want to show Cheaper by the Dozen 2.

If that doesn't sum of Formula E then I don't know what does.

They were at one stage looking to equalise the rules between IMSA GT, Super GT and DTM.  It never actually happened but it'll account for some of the connection.

Can you imagine there not being a BTCC? because that's essentially where the DTM is now, 2018 and it's Audi vs BMW and both have got formula e teams on the boil....

It's easy to forget but we're only about 10 years from when the BTCC had 9 full season entrants and a race grid as low as 12.

Are they doing this for road car development of the technology, now that they increasingly need to have it for the road? It just seems like E was sort of ignored, but now suddenly big names are not just jumping in, but leaving other forumulas to do so.

I don't think doing three laps of Silverstone national would really cut it....

Joking aside, it won't be long before the migration to full circuits starts, the planned pitstop stuff should be resolved in a couple of years I think.

Most certainly, and I would imagine that they don't need to be of a particularly high FIA grading. Brands, Rockingham, Donington, Snetterton, in fact anywhere the BTCC goes. A couple of season and this could be huge, especially with F1 determined to run with the Halo device.

The tracks are deliberately tight to hide the lack of speed. One of these going round Spa would look laughable.

Also I remember reading by using the street circuits they are nearer to a new audience. The average punter wouldn't travel to Silverstone for example, is the thinking.

The New York race just smacked of desperately trying to get it anywhere remotely near downtown Manhattan. Did the average punter travel to Battersea I wonder? that looked like a good venue until someone went 'it's too noisy and causes a fuckload of disruption!'

I went to Battersea the first year. Was great being so close and accessible - took my young son which I'd not have done it we'd had to travel out to somewhere like Silverstone.

The local people who complained were v annoying - seemed to be more of a principle thing than based on anything real.

It was amazing and I only watched it because the Germany Denmark game was rained off. Buemi is such a dick and it's hilarious that after all that he was disqualified because his car was underweight because they didn't have time to weigh it after they rebuilt it after he crashed it in free practice.
