FIFA 18. Fuelled by Ronaldo, or something.

Recommended Posts

I'm usually one to piss and moan about what the game doesn't do, but based on the demo, FIFA 18 seems pretty fucking decent. It feels snappier to play, like the weight of it. Sure, worldie goals are a bit easy to score, but it feels quite good to play this year. I'm sure we'll see a bunch of montages using the Pogba-flick this year. I think we need to run some kind of GOTW using that flick alone.

It's the first time I've ever played on Legendary and not wanted to shoot myself in the face from the coma-induced boredom and alarming pinpoint accuracy the AI puts you through. Playing like some mad version of Uri Gellar, where the AI anticipates every single tackle and move, it actually feels a bit... human.

Selfishly EA, don't change too much. They probably will though, won't they?

Interesting! The catalogue is always rip for starting out FUT aswell, with the extra coin per match played + the Loan players.

I assume its the same this year!

The FUT APP start was slightly different where you can choose a country then a supremo player from that league, so Ive got Pogba for 7 matches.

Starting out with a championship team though, which is already looking like much fun :D With Boro's pacey attack.

Not as many things to mine in the catalogue this year but still a few kits etc. The coin boosts are there of course, the most important of all!

The manager tasks are pretty good too but this time round they are grouped into set of 4 or 5 and completing them gives individual and group rewards.

I'm not feeling this at all, it just feels like 17 if all your players are out of stamina and your goalkeepers been sent off.

averaging 4 goals a game and conceding 1 a game, it's not even like I've got that new Fifa struggle to score goals, it just doesn't feel as fun to play for me.

I'm out. The goalkeepers are rubbish and the tackling is so poor. I don't mind the lack of assistance, I've not used contain since it came in, but they don't just stick a leg out to the ball half the time. Off the ball it's just useless. It's too weighted for attack.

I scored 8 goals in my last match, every shot on target went in. Too much goes through them.

Defending is fine offline but online the latency messes it up.

Spot on, absolutely terrible if the connection isn't perfect.

ill never play as the away team on the PS4 version, just not worth it.

So I’m about 20 games into this and I can honestly say that it’s the most disappointing FIFA I’ve played initially.

Defending is non-existent, you’re just hoping to get enough men around the ball to have a chance of blocking. Shooting, especially from range, is just ridiculous; what would be a special goal before is now just the norm. Passing is too inconsistent, sometimes you’ll play some neat tiki-taka and the next minute you’re dropping balls 5 yards short or behind players.

It’s not a terrible game by any stretch, everything else is near enough as it was, but it definitely needs a major patch to bring the above more in line with the previous games. I’ve had one clean sheet and all the rest of the games have been upwards of 3 goals from both teams, keepers are absolutely woeful with some of the weakest of strikes.
