This is ridiculous, they have to stop the race.

You new here? It'll need to rain like that over the whole circuit before they stop this mad bastard of a thing. It's an absolute beast of a race.

Is one of the commentary team a guy that does some work with Marc Riley on six music? sounds really familiar from the parallel universe?

Had the stream on in the background and happened to catch it (director thankfully cut away very quickly) and it looked utterly appalling. Very sad - no-one can race without these guys and girls volunteering their time.

It's time we paid them.

Meanwhile Andy Neate has pulled out of Oulton Park with COVID.

Andy Neate getting too close to someone? Huge surprise.

My WRC thread is dead but this is as close as you can get to a WRC car crashing without being injured and somewhere the marshalls never though there would be an accident. Katsuta lost control on a compression on what was essentially a straight piece of road and unlike fast corners on the stage there was no exclusion zone close the road hence how the camera man could get so close.

No one was hurt thankfully.

Watching the Extreme E qualifying through curiosity, I've lost track on this series because I can never remember how to find actual races.

Car 1 rolled

Car 2's suspension collapsed

Car 3's steering broke leaving the two front wheels pointing in entirely different directions

Car 4 spun

Car 5's power steering fails.

It's a mess. I'm 5 cars into qualifying and the leader currently has a 32 second lead and the 3rd is already over a minute back because the poor guy can't turn.

EDIT : Car 7, rear bodywork is falling off.

You would think drag racing would be the easiest to secure motorsport in the world, especially on an airport runway.

Quote

The race was an eighth of a mile (0.2 kilometers) long, and water-filled plastic barriers lined the course. But Amestoy said they didn’t extend past the finish line, leaving no protection between spectators and cars as they were slowing down at the end of the race.

Spectators could get within about 15 feet (4.6 meters) of the track, and many watched the race from lawn chairs in the absence of stands. Organizers reminded people to stay in the grass and off the asphalt, Amestoy told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

Fucking hell, that's criminal level negligence.

Do a barrel roll!

”did you go to the medical centre?”

”ah, just pain everywhere”

Former racer Bob Bondurant died. He, with Graham Hill, pulled Jackie Stewart out of his crashed car leaking fuel everywhere. He was forced out of racing after an accident of his own and ended up training movie stars in racing roles, all the way from James Garner in Grand Prix to Christian Bale in Ford v Ferrari.
