Ataribox - "Atari is back in the hardware business."

Is there a Google Chrome extension that prefaces old games company names with "Executives who bought the rights to..."?

By "new console" I assume they mean "we saw how popular the NES mini was, let's see if we can capitalise on that nostalgia dollar too".

Chesnais said that Atari's revival is well under way and confirmed it would be based on PC technology.

Poor Microsoft, they came so close to launching the most powerful console on the market, but Ataribox will run Destiny 2 at 60fps.

Yes, an Atari 2600 mini with a PC emulator running a bunch of built-in games would fit that description.

Edit: nm

Just what this market needed, another videogame console.

If true then I'm sure developers and publishers alike will be ecstatic by this news.

I'm wondering if this announcement is just an aggressive response to the Retron 77. More for copyright defence reasons than any intention of producing a machine in large numbers, or at all.

Did that ever come out?

Nah the whole thing was a pump and dump scheme.

The keyboard and mouse combo for it did. But that was it.

I bet it just runs Steam.  Who gives a shit about Atari now anyway.  They are not the Atari we all grew up with they just bought the name.  And let's not forget what happened to Test Drive Unlimited, they just got bored of fixing it, stopped the casino from working and dumped it.  I'm still mad at them.

This just shows Dreamcast 2 will be reality someday. :)

Yes! And just like the Dreamcast it will be awesome because it will have amazing ports of all those great current Sega arcade games! Oh wait...
