I wonder if Starfox 2 will be an all new final build, or if they'll be using the almost final ROM that's been floating around the internet forever.

I hope it'll be the build that journalists got to play, by all accounts it was much further along than the ROM that's available.

Cuthbert also said this about it:

It was very disappointing of course, I had spent two years making the game and put so many ideas into it. I could understand the marketing/publisher logic behind the decision but it was still disappointing.

I can't really comment on that [feelings about the ROM], and it's illegal to do reproduction cartridges. The videos I've seen of that build show it to be an old build and not the final one as there are some major gameplay elements missing such as the rogue-style encounter system and more variations of the various arenas and setups.

It's an awesome selection of games but I'd still gut it without hesitation, replacing games I have little interest in playing in 2017 with these:

- Assault Suit Valken

- Super Aleste

- Demon's Crest

- Pocky & Rocky 2

- Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius

- Wild Guns

- Ninja Warriors Again

- Stunt Race FX

- Live A Live

- Famicom Detective Club part 2

They must be using a superb emulator to be able to make Super FX support a centrepiece of the experience, which is encouraging.

I can't wait to play beautifully upscaled full screen / speed - hopefully with minimal lag - SNES on the big screen and assert total 2-player domination over all who dare challenge me. My old SNES is a stock PAL unit I only ever think about in terms of hardware I have no intention of ever using again.

Although my SNES is still hooked up it will be nice to play it on a HDTV without framemeisters and other things. Just plug in, turn on and play. I think the game selection is good enough and once it's inevitably hacked we will be able to add a few extras. I wonder what Starfox 1/2 will run like. If they somehow manage to make it run smoother than it did on the SNES i might wet myself.

Hmm, I haven't managed to pre-order as I don't shop online much and cant recall my login details.

But, CEX had 2 NES minis in when I was in there yesterday - sure they were a bit pricey, but if I have to pay £140ish for one of these 6 months after launch then I'm nut sure how unhappy I will be

Glad I shifted my SNES Club Nintendo controller the other week, surely these are going to be the same thing and will bring the value right down.

Dithered over switching to Smyths earlier as it was cheaper than Amazon. Went back 5 minutes later and the price had gone up to £79.99

It looks like a different connector compared to the Club Nintendo controller. At least I hope it is, I've been meaning to sell mine for ages.

But isn't it compatible with Classic Controllers which is the same Wii connector?

Different but sort of similar Assault Suit Leynos is on sale at £3.99 over on PSN if that's any good / of interest to you :).

Similarly, Gunhound EX is a game clearly in that vein, £3.29 on Steam. Can't speak to its quality though!

After the preorder madness, there's one thing I think we can all  agree on. Shopto's website is absolute botty water.

Give Amazon their due, I was in and out with a pre-order in a couple of clicks (thanks again, @deKay); so pleased to have made the cut this time, having missed out on the NES classic.

I cancelled my Shopto preorder and went with Amazon. I should have perhaps kept it for someone on here, but £85 is a bit of a rip, plus I think if the price drops they only give you store credit, could be wrong though.

While there are a handful of notable omissions, this is still one of the finest lists of games you could get. Apart from Mega Man. I don't know what it is, but I really, really just don't get the love for the series.

Regardless, if my Smyths preorder doesn't come through I'll be genuinely upset. The SNES wasn't my first console by any means but the games on there, the memories I have of buying them, playing them stick with me like little else.

Have Smyths been taking money from people yet or were the card details just to secure the pre-orders?

Just wondering if it could be caused by a card issue at my end?

From reading your email it looks like it may have failed the Fraud checks they have in place. Could be if the card details don't match the billing address details or if your details entered (card, phone number, email address or delivery address) has been flagged as High Risk by their fraud checking system  (if they use SagePay for that).
