I couldn't understand it. I had loads of grip. I thought I must have locked up but it didn't feel like it.

Ah ok, that'll do it.

I thought you might be on full wets again!?
Yeah, you ran wide at the Degners as well so might have got dirty tyres. Fair play for sitting and waiting. True gent

I gotta practice my standing starts.

I'm not certain by looking at Junker's replay, but did you have your foot on the brake?  I think it's slightly better to hold it on the handbrake, since releasing it is a binary on/off rather than however fast you can lift your foot off.

The McLaren might just be rubbish though :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I think some of the guys aren't heading into GT7 immediately, so there is a chance that Mondays remain with Sport for a while.

I'm almost certain Pim, as an example is waiting to see what is said about the PS4 version of 7 before diving in.

At the very least, we've got 2 more Mondays to discuss it I guess :)

Thanks for the races tonight guys - sorry to those who my haphazard antics (especially in Race 1) caused any issues.

First race, never been to that version of Sardegna and had only done about 20 laps of any track in the 911 RSR so it was a pretty steep learning curve… and I fell off it. A lot. But, when I did get going I was actually reasonably quick. I know Junker and Mexos were struggling for various reasons during the race, but I was able to tag happily along behind you guys for a bit (before I dropped it one last time).

Second race, felt like I could have started a bit further up but didn’t maximise qualifying. 11th on the grid was okay, though! Had a messy first lap (I always am the guy finding himself shuffling backwards because he causes problems by trying to avoid problems). Sorry to Scarliley who had nowhere to go but into my boot when I tagged the wall at the penultimate corner on lap one.

Had some nice fights with Badger and fighterdj after that - was gutted when the latter made a small mistake to let me through finally as we had a pretty fun tussle through the first few corners :). Made a few errors here and there but was happily circulating bout 0.7s off the front pace so that was enough to make me happy. You’re all bloody good at this game!

Until we meet again on track (I’ll be a little less wayward, promise).

@kiroquai great to have you racing again. It does take a while to get up to speed. I’ve not raced for 3 weeks until yesterday and it takes a bit to calibrate my brain to a Monday Night. I think us all being  in voice chat helps massively with the good natured racing.

The championship isn’t what we normally do, but we all like Gr3 and sticking with one car makes it easier to be consistent in the car but different ones suit certain tracks better so we have a variety of winners.
we had a track vote for next week as we did Dragon Trail seaside (the Gr3 daily this week) in Rd1 and Lago Maggiore GP won I believe, if you want to Practice. All the Gr3 races we do 3x fuel and tyres, and about 12-15 laps depending on circuit length.

Yeah, it's really cool to see so many folks racing and that new drivers are still joining in too. Sport definitely has a long tail in terms of popularity.

I am interested to see what happens with the move to 7. I am imagining they'll basically be parachuting Sport's functionality into it as they've invested a lot into the e-sports side of things and there's a decent online community for it too. Would be a very odd move to bin that off now. If they basically have what we've got now with new tracks and cars and then roll out new stuff as time goes on then all good in my book.

Noticed Assetto Corsa Competizione isn't bringing across online driver changes to the console versions. I'd love a Gran Turismo to do that at some point - then we could form little RLLMUK squads and go on to cause utter mayhem utterly dominate some longer 6 - 12 hour races online.

Welcome aboard! and that was me who ran into you in the second race! no worries, these things happen!

I had a mare on Monday night in the races. From 2nd to last on the first lap of that race. Ian did a false start which made me do one and then the famously lightning mclaren launches I'm famous for finished it up nicely. Annoying cos my race pace until I weirdly binned it with the old GT Sport one wheel touches not the tarmac spin out physics moment, i was only a tenth off FL.

Great battles at the back though with Ian and I think Kiroquai until I did my spin.

Still getting used to the new loadcell brake pedal and not entirely dialled in with the rig setup. More discussions with Mexos are in progress with additional supervision from Corranga.

Guys, that was a lovely way to see off (depending on GT7) the old game. I didn’t get to race with you guys as much as I’d have liked on it, and past two Mondays have really shown me what I missed.

Fun races today were a mixed bag for me - I used the stock MX5 by mistake so was too slow, made an unnecessary pit stop in the Gr4 race (snagged fastest lap though!) and then didn’t have the Red Bull.

The GR3 race was gold, and even though I didn’t know the track I really enjoyed it. Had my usual tepid lap one but then fought back through to 6th (aided by some misfortune for @Varnsen and @Junker) and chasing home Fretnoise which I was really chuffed about. Really cool thing for me was that whilst I lost 15 seconds to P1 in 3 laps, I only lost another 3 in the remainder of the race. The Moneytron cash made me go faster! Sorry to Batmobile for the little nudge midway through - didn’t know if I should go left or right when you came back on so I did neither 😬)

Really enjoyed the GR3 thing so hope that is a championship again some day. In any case, was a pleasure again!

A fab farewell (maybe, probably, kinda) to GT Sport last night.  And look, we finally managed to get a few 20 million credit cars on track together:

(And for some of the one lap race, they were in the same bit of the track and all pointing the right way!)

Yes it was good. I got too greedy on a kerb and the MacLaren said nope.
I think you’d love the FIA championships they do, especially the manufacture one. It might not be FIA badged in GT7 but they’ll have something similar. A few of us did them last year and chose the same manufacturer so we could work on strategy together etc as they tend to be longer races with tyre changes and refuelling required.
Also e1978__ isn’t on the forum but his Historic7 race series is again longer races with strategy important.

Ah damn that looks great!

Finally I beat Willow Springs this morning. One more track to go. The nemesis that is Bathurst. 2.5 days to beat it.

@marsh how the hell do you do the dipper?!

2 questions.

What car, and pad or wheel?? :eyebrows:

GR3 Merc, wheel. I realise now I was far too fast in - I need to slow down more in the middle part. Shit is HARD.

Oh a car I can relate to! Used to like sending that round there. So the big gain is had in braking just over the crest as it turns into the hard left and then nailing it past the apex and making sure you don't cuff the wall on the way out. Massive, massive gains to be had when you get it right.

@Junkercan probably explain it better tbf, his times ended up pissing all over mine in the end.

I didn’t do 100s of laps to beat you at bathurst to be mistaken for Junker!!!

You or Junks to be fair, my memory is a little hazzy since the chivalry war. Too many cuffs to the head.

You'll know you've hooked it up as the split down the back straight will show a huge gain.....right before I piss it all away in the last sector.
