I was in the beta which supported 4k and hdr, it looked nice. But watching the attract races here on the demo again with those settings, they seem to have improved the visual fidelity a nice amount since the beta. The beta was no slouch but they do seem to have upped the shinies for the final game (which I'm thinking this most definitely is weighing in at 43gb). Looking forward to having a little race off between Forza 7 on One X and GT Sport on Pro.

EDIT* Saying that, if the demo is basically the full game there will need to be a day one patch, just watched the in-car view of a GT-R, pretty sure they have more going on than a flat shaded dash and massive lcd timer lol.

Well...it looks better then Forza at 1080p and thats the PC version on ultra so i'll assume that will scale up.

Lets face it - if you can make the base game lighting look as good as GT Sport sometimes does then the HDR mode will knock it out the park.

I'm only running a Plasma and it looks great but i can't help but shake the feeling it'll be too clinical.

Forza is more like a painting at times - i don't think Turn 10 have the technical know how or maybe they do, and can't apply it for whatever reason.

Forget all the textures for a minute as they're irrelevant - i'm more talking about the overall lighting look, and stuff like headlight glows.

Its the way they get the light to work for them.

Anyone able to play this? I tried this morning and again this evening and can't connect at all, everything is greyed out on the menus. Looks nice from the attract footage though.

Edit: Ignore me, I see you have to wait till Monday!

It's up. Dived into single player challenges. Can see this getting some flack. Up to number 7 and PD really stringing them out. Stop after 100m, stop after 200m etc

EDIT: now onto challenges which is better. And next an online race!

I really like the qualifying. Always was luke warm on GT ever since the first coming from F1 97 which was my first ever racing game with damage, good AI, qualifying, 22 cars then going to GT and away from number of cars it seemed hollow.

Looks incredible in replays, in game itself looks a little plasticky.

Id prefer an incar view without the steering wheel in sight, line Forza 7.

Agreed. Looks kind of stale. Probably plays well too, but I just want an incredible looking ridge racer or something with HDR :S

It has that classic GT gameplay hook where watching the replays is as enjoyable as the racing itself, and it really helps you identify where you can improve.

Love the rally stages, reminds me of GT2 which is still my favourite one.

This is allowing me to race online multiplayer despite not having PS+. I assume that's a perk of the demo?

Not impressed by the network drop-outs and frequent "cannot save" messages when I was doing the license type stuff. Attempts to get it back online would crash the game every time. That will be really frustrating if aiming for gold times.

Very impressed by the daily races. Qualifying and matching you with similar skilled drivers is great - checking times I was 20 seconds off the ultimate pace, but in my own session I qualified fourth, battled for first and finished third (lost 2nd on the last lap).

Overall, impressions are good. Always online though... a tough pill to swallow.

edit - small irk, I got awarded two prize cars (for doing the daily mileage and for all golds on the first 8 licenses) and the roulette thingy gave me the same car for both. I went to sell one of them, and it says "this car cannot be sold. Remove from garage?". That sucks.

How do you actually enter an online race? I did my race entry, set a qualifying time, was on the main screen when the clock ticked over to the race start time and... nothing! It advanced to asking me to enter the next race on that track which took place an hour later! I must have missed something obvious, but what?

Clock ticked over meaning what exactly? There should have been a yellow line of text countdown saying something like "0:30 until matching begins". If it wasn't that, I guess you hadn't registered your entry properly. If it did say that and it didn't go to the matching screen I guess it was a glitch.

I never went back to the main menu, I always did qualifying runs until the last minute or so and then sat on the race screen until it started.

Yep, didn’t do that at all. So if your race happens at 4pm and you have set a qualifying time, is that matching supposed to happen at 4pm on the dot?

There's a lot of waiting around in the Sport mode and it's kinda thin content wise outside of that. The gameplay, presentation, and graphics are all outstanding but I may just stick with Forza 7 on the One X for my driving fix.

Yes, but be aware it's possible to set a qualifying time that shows on the race selection screen *without* having entered the race. i made that mistake the first time thinking I was good to go. I had set a lap time but not as an official entry.

I think the races have a 15 minute entry window, and you have to select the race entry button in that period, which may or may not be separate from the qualifying button (not got it on atm).

kind of disappointed that the VR mode is labelled as 'VR tour' which really implies it's just a demo mode - similar to the 60fps SS-Route 11 race with no scenery that was in the original Gran Turismo.
