Gran Turismo Sport - Mondays 8:00 PM UK forum races!

I should be getting a PS4 pro today!

So, plague permitting, I should be able to join in with some GT races.

It changed last week - Bathurst Gr3s....

also Alsace BMW M3 '03 Super Lap/Tuning allowed.

But we both know it's all about Bathurst!

You have to admire someone's sense of humour with the TT's

Bathurst: Excellant

Tuning allowed: Good

GR3's: Brilliant choice

Tyres Hard: :quote:

I really don’t understand their obsession with Hard tyres. If there’s no tyre wear not put everyone on soft tyres?

I liked the suggestion of a one night championship that someone came up with last night, four races in one car (be it the same grid or a mixed grid) the overall winner takes the championship till the following week (and gets to decide the class/car and circuits?)

Yes, let's do this come Monday night! The idea of a Mazda Roadster Touring Car cup in one night sounds best for now I reckon - a relatively low-entry but very enjoyable car to race throughout a single evening.

We could still add fuel and tyres in the mix. Opinions?

I'd even suggest to start a little earlier than usual so we can get enough races done :) How about 7:30 PM UK time for upcoming Monday?

I see you and I raise you... How about a feature race and a sprint race.

Mazdas and GR3s? Hell we could even do the reverse grid from race 1 to 2. Flip a coin at the start of each evenings racing to decide which to race first for added lols.

I can deffo get on the liveries for the Mazda!

I'm all up for the idea of feature and sprint races too - following a Mazda cup this Monday, I think.

If you have the time, could you whip up some cool liveries for the Mazda? Perhaps just an array of motorsports hommages? :)

8/8:30 is always best for me, gives my younger two time to go to sleep, not always bomb proof and with them being at home all day after tomorrow, things may vary

I'm presuming, but haven't actually been told, that my Monday night music lessons will be cancelled. They're in a youth centre, which you'd think the council would be closing but they haven't said so.

If the centre does close then I could probably be available at whatever time.

If it stays open then I might be available after 9.

7 days to find a second....

I think I've hit my limit again. 2:03.7.

I just have no idea how to go faster at this point. I mean I know I could potentially do a 2:03.1 according to the game but looking at the aliens at the top? Nearly 3 seconds a lap faster? I mean genuinely, how do you get that much better?

The 2 minute time on there is mental, I'd happily now chase down another half a second, but to find a further 3 and a half? nope. That's not normal. Especially round there.

So... I’m bored so I‘ve been doing a little testing. If we were to do a roadster championship then picking the right tracks will be essential to keeping it fun (imo).

(I find) the large wide tracks with long straights are a bit dull for a relatively underpowered car. I’ve found that the best tracks for the car are/have the following in common:

No huge long straights

Are a bit narrower with some up and down to them.

Not too long - sub 2 minute lap

Have some sharp turns in them so we can get the car sliding a bit.

A good enough sensation of speed. This one is essential imo. When you don’t have it i find it dull

The car I tried was bop off with sports hard tyres.

So my list (so far) of proposed tracks would include:

Tsukuba

Brands GP

Laguna Seca

Goodwood

Dragon trail
Alsace

and surprisingly one of the best... I can’t even believe this but... Bathurst. (it has a long straight but it’s tolerable)

Tracks i didn’t find fun in the roadster:

Red bull ring - too wide and not enough corners

Interlagos - the middle but is good but the rest was dull. I could drink my cup of tea for half the lap while driving.

Maggiore - it’s sooooo long. Some good bits but a lot of doing nothing too.

Still to try:

Kyoto - think it will too wide

Willow springs - think this will work.

Suzuka - because

Spa- because

Stuff like Monza /Fuji with its whacking long straights I’m not trying.

Willow springs - I still don’t like it but it would be a good race in the roadster

Suzuka - I love Suzuka but it’s a bit long in this car and we drive it a lot. Twisty bits are great in it though.

Kyoto. It’s ok but too much of it is flat.

Spa - I could read a book going up Kemmel. Love it but not in this car.

Nurburgring GP - better than expected. You could do with more power for the drag up the hill and the main straight but it's a narrower circuit with plenty/

Nordschleife? Oh my... it's SO good. It's controllable, you can easily make it around without crashing. It's just great. You can control the car around there. It's still plenty fast but doable. Given what I found I had an idea to keep us interested between Monday night races...

The Roaster Touring Car Nordschleife clean lap time trial challenge!

Roadster, BOP off, sports hard tyres.

If you go off the circuit or hits a wall your lap is toast - only clean laps!

I've had two goes, here is my best time so far:

Anyone fancy it? :eyebrows: There is something really satisfying / terrifying about having to keep the car on the track always, not even running over any grass.
