Just had a look for the 4K Nolan films on Amazon UK, and the only ones that seem to be available are The Prestige and Dunkirk

What happened to The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, and Interstellar?

Dark Knight trilogy is on Amazon but only under standard Blu-ray for some reason. Also looks like it's sold out as it's only available via other sellers for far more than the likes of HMV.

The Interstellar UHD is also excellent. They've really made use of the wider colour gamut. In the normal BD, the scene on the water planet is almost entirely gray, there's a lot more colour in this version, especially the sky.

Was this extra colour visible at the cinema and just missing in the Blu-ray or are films being modified for their release on UHD to take advantage of HDR do you know?

Lego Ninjago Movie popped through the door today, thanks to Amazon Canada. Worked out roughly the same price as the UK disc, which isn't out until mid-Feb.

Also expecting the Hong Kong release of Blade Runner 2049, as it's out next Wednesday and I drunkenly ordered it on Xmas Day.

Where did you order Blade Runner from? I wouldnt mind getting that early.

Also, how did you order from Amazon Canada? It wont let me ship to the UK. Unless you are in Canada?

Blade Runner 2049 was from DDDHouse, but they're now out of stock. Showed up yesterday:

As for Amazon Canada, they do ship to the UK. Just make sure it's Amazon themselves fulfilling the order, and not a 3rd party seller.

None of the discs in The Dark Knight trilogy would read in my player.

On closer examination of the discs they were all wobbly around the edge, like the glue between layers had squeezed out a tiny bit and hardened.

Filed the edges down until each disc would read and play, took a fair few attempts but they all now work.

I've watched Batman Begins and forgetting the awesomeness of the film, the picture quality is a bit pants for UHD. Had read about the first film being a bit soft so was kinda expecting it a little but was disappointed.

Next was The Dark Knight. Again, fantastic film but the only great looking clips worthy of 4K goodness were the IMAX scenes. They were crisp and clear with amazing HDR, the rest was pretty poor.

Will watch TDKR tomorrow, hoping the improving trend with each one continues and the last movie is great looking.

So how is it?

Gorgeous transfer. The 1080p version looks horribly choked, in comparison.

The UHD is a revelation, compared to that shit blu-ray version that we'd been stuck with for years.

The Dark Knight Rises was inferior in picture quality than TDK. The IMAX scenes had clipped whites and some dark scenes were grey instead of dark.

Still a great trilogy though spoilt with poor visuals. Shame.

Tempted to get BR 2049 as my first uhd - don’t have a 4K tv so know I won’t see masses of improvement but kinda future proofing :) But also would be playing it on my Xbone - heard there were some issues with uhd playback on it, does anyone know if they are sorted yet?

I use it all the time, it's my only UHD player. No issues at all.

My issue with purchasing discs is the cost. I wanted to get IT as my daughter loved the movie but at £24.99 it can wait. Even the older back catalogue titles like Inception are £19.99.

Although I have the Blade Runner 2049 whiskey glass pack on pre-order but hey...it's Blade Runner.

Yeah, you'd have thought they would have just started adding 4K discs to Blu Rays since Blu Rays still command a premium price.  It is silly that we now have three levels of distinction for essentially the same product, the DVD, the Blu Ray and now the 4K.  With the mass market still buying DVDs, they have split the specialist market down the middle and it is just another SKU to keep track of.

There is no point buying anything but the 4k version. It makes Blu-ray look very average.

War of the planet of the apes. Jesus that is a technical masterpiece of a movie and a fantastic transfer.
