ta - and is there anything that can help me with the noise ratio in the store or is it a combination of scrolling this thread and digging through the depths of the store?

I stopped following the switch scene as my son had commandeered it so I never saw it or played on it for ages. Now I look back into it I can just see paaaaages of stuff :D

Dekudeals has ways of sorting by metacritic or user rating which helps a lot. Poke about on there, it's very flexible and configurable. Nintendo should hire the guy to redesign the eshop tbh, it's the worst store layout of all the major ones.

Unfortunately not. The eShop has decent filters but none for sifting through the sheer volume of utter garbage that's on there. There's no review system so you can't even sort by that. The desktop version of Deku Deals has some functions I can't see on the mobile version, like All Time Low sorting and the mobile one has reviews attached to Metacritic but a) Metacritic can be bullshit and b) not all games have a Metacritic rating. Best thing to do is just add to wish list over time and keep checking back. Almost everything has been in a sale at some point and absolutely 100% will come back to being on sale, it's just being patient.

Ooh yes that does look pretty cool and it has thrown up a "gem" already - warlock of firetop mountain is a switch game and has a high metacritic score and is £2 - I'm off to youtube to see what it is like compared to the book :D

Also bezier looks fun for £2

I now have hours of research ahead of me -

Warlock of... leaves at midnight but it's been on offer loads so if you miss it it'll be back sooner or later.

Thats brilliant thanks - Metacritic can be bullshit especially with smaller games with few reviews. But it does give me some pointers to add to my wishlist - at least the store has one! But maybe I should use the dekudeals one

Warlock... nails the feel of playing - and mapping - the book brilliantly, with a little light turn-based strategy combat layered on top for more of a video game feel. Well worth a couple of quid.

One of our co-hosts on the ugvm podcast had the audacity to promote your damn website last episode. That's like a Tesco shop assistant telling you to go to Sainsbury's.  Bloody cheek of it.

That would be appreciated but certainly don't feel obliged :)

Anyway, after 100%ing Alwa's Awakening (as mentioned on some podcast or other) and enjoying it Very Much, I made a start on Alwa's Legacy which is also excellent.

Games about dodgy 80s electronic manufacturers you'd find in Dix*ns?

Ah, that's Saisho - Aiwa were just not quite as good as Sony, right?

Oh, AL-wa...

There is a decent little youtube channel Switch Corner (don't have a link to hand but just have a quick search) which does a perfectly watchable 10 min video once or twice a week which sums up all the notable deals.

Switch Up does videos like that too. A recommended channel, these guys really love the switch. The most recent one:

Love the Switch maybe, but they did go on a big anti-SJW rant a couple of years back that kind of put me off. It was so unnecessary and weird.

Does anyone know if your progress carries over to the full game after the Monster Hunter Stories Demo?

Just done the first two hours and it’s absolutely excellent

All the sites I have read say that it carries over....

Yeah, couple of years back. Can’t find the video now but did find a 2019 Resetera post about it. Made some flippant comment in the video then went ham in the comments on anyone who mentioned being surprised/disappointed by it just to underline it wasn’t a misunderstanding. Arseholes.

Might not cover Switch entirely, but Get Indie Gaming are great for filtering the good Indies, of which most will/have come to Switch.

Also take a look at Best Indie Games. Similar roundups of upcoming releases and best ofs, I even like the guy's voice and delivery. The look ahead to the coming month is generally useful:

Cris Tales, Eldest Souls and Death's Door.... mmm.

Ugh, resetera.

Yes. But two wrongs don’t make a right.

More positively, Katamari Damacy and Mr Driller are £3.99 apparently! Quite a few other Bandai Namco too. Although not Dark Souls because it never is 😐
