Picked up Tetris The Grand Master last night and it really is brilliant. It’s so no frills and punishing that it holds my attention more than other Tetris variants even though each game is only lasting 3-5 minutes currently.

Hopefully TGM 2 and 3 follow.

Looks like there's some decent deals to be had in the Christmas sale. I've just picked up Huntdown for the festive sum of £3.59.

This appears to be completely brilliant. Why didn't any of you say repeatedly and regularly over the past few years?

Has anybody or their kids played any of the horsey games? I’ve seen the following in the sale but I know there are more.

Horse Club Adventures 1&2

Spirit Riding Free - Lucky’s Big Adventure

Horse Trails: Emerald Valley Ranch

Windstorm

Hoping for something more interesting than the DS style wash and groom your pony with the touch screen affair.

My daughter had a review code for the Spirit game because she liked the TV show. The horses are basically just vehicles in the game. There isn’t much interaction with them. Also it feels like a cheap cash-in. She didn’t think much of it even though she liked the characters.

That’s good to know, thanks. Especially as it’s the cheapest of the bunch.

Yeah it's a grand old time.

I keep looking at Mary Skelter 2 despite knowing for an absolute 100% fact I'd despise the anime garbage around the game.

I suspect it would do your nut in. The games mechanics though are incredible, it's got a lot of complex systems. But the anime tropes are absolutely slapped on liberally. And I can see how it would drive people off.

Yeah it's the conversations we've had over it that make me want it AND stop me from buying it.

The Hong Kong Massacre is £0.89. I’ve no idea if it’s good or absolute garbage but for 89p it’s got to be worth a punt right…right??

No. There's plenty of sub£1 garbage on the system, none of them are worth it.

What's the verdict on Loop Hero?

Correct. It’s like a top down, poor man’s Max Payne with Janky controls. The idea of it is good and it looks ok but I didn’t gel with it after 20 minutes so gave up. Ymmv

Yeah, about a year back. It's good enough, nothing truly remarkable but a nice, more compact cyberpunk experience. Kinda formulaic in a way, it's pretty much what you would expect from a "2D Cyberpunk Videogame" but that's no bad thing, just don't go expecting anything truly novel. At 89p? Oh absolutely, I paid a fiver for it and felt I still got a bargain from it.
