Formula One - 2018 Season

I actually think Lance is alright - he was thrown into F1 a good year or so too early (those early 2017 races were wild) but I think he's capable of very decent performances nowadays. He's not top-tier (nor even next tier down) but he's worth his seat now.

That said, it was obvious (and made total sense) he'd get that second RP seat for 2019 and looking at what Perez and Ocon bought to the table for the team, I can totally understand Ocon getting nerfed.

I'd say Stroll has far more of a right to be in F1 purely on all round performance these days compared to:

  • Raik
  • Sex pest
  • Gio
  • and Best Rookie Evar!11™

On top of that cash also helps a bit.

2 of those probably won't be in F1 next year and it's a little unfair to go after the other two when you've just waved Stroll's first year away.

But yes, he's Pedro Dinized himself. A high bar.

These days being the important bit.

Of course it’s unfair to compare him to rookies. But then F1 is unfair. My point being today he’s quite far from being the worst driver in F1 anymore.

I could see sex pest being the only one from that list being around next year. I get the feeling Best Rookie is getting dropped. Give Albono another crack.

Aaagh I just noticed this is not the 2021 F1 thread!

I’m too old for multiple threads!

Apologies that was me on my massive 3 day catch-up of the 2018 to 2020 seasons. Getting myself back up to speed.

Not at all :hat: I think it's great that F1 is getting more and more people interested in it - interested enough to go through the old stuff! Some great racing over the past few years to enjoy.

I've been watching since the late 80's and honestly the racing we've been getting (throughout the whole grid) in the recent times has been as good if not better than at any point in F1 history imo. ^_^
