via Resetera, Sky have a 9 month F1 pass which includes all of there sports channels for £150. This is a good way for them to get some income over the summer when everyone is watching the world cup.

Not bad, if you want to watch the other sport channels. If you just want F1 and don't mind watching on Channel 4 when they have it then even day passes at the standard rate for the remaining 11 races only amounts to £88 over the season.

I feel I'm repeating myself but

Testing Day 5 :

Toro Rosso - Honda steaming along logging laps as the best of the rest, currently 7 hundreths off Red Bull.

McLaren - Stopped on track with another mysterious issue and 4 seconds slower on the good tyres.

If you go through TopCashBack you also get about £6 back too.

Makes you wonder how many issues were just Honda over the past couple of years.

Have read somewhere that the whole thing with the new Toro Rosso/Honda pairing is that Toro Rosso are actually willing to compromise bits here and there and work together with Honda.

Am guessing it was intimating that McLaren were very much 'this is our chassis, this is how we want to mount your power unit, deal with it'. I've said for a while that I believed that McLaren's issues as a team were getting a bit swept under the rug by the Honda thing over the past few years. Guess we are going to find out this season!

I think Mclaren will have a slow start but by mid-season they'll be blowing the factory team away and by the end giving RB a run for their money. A podium by Hungary. :blah:

I also call bullshit on Torro Rosso. I think the engine will be practically bulletproof given the terrible reliability of 2017 and the world of shit they got for it. I also believe that will come at a cost, which is speed.

If Honda has cured reliability and found Renault beating pace I'll buy a hat and eat it.

McLaren’s racing director Eric Boullier and executive director Zak Brown talked to the media just a short while ago.

“It is just testing,” Boullier said. “First of all, the tyres story, if you look at the lap time, Red Bull did a test this morning with the new mediums, new softs, they were half a second faster only, so there is not much difference because of the tarmac specification. As I said last week, and it is still the same, we have some technical reason why we want to work on the car with these tyres.

“The car breaking down, yes it’s testing, so we have some little issues which we have to fix. But it is just testing and it is part of the process. We know we are on top of this. It is a new partnership with Renault, complete new packaging for the car as well. This is testing – give us time, and it’s fine.”

Look at how red he is. Deep breaths, Eric. In and out, in and out.

But remember, it's all Honda's fault.

I'd get a comment from Toro Rosso on that but they all seem to be very busy running a perfectly functional Formula One car.

EDIT: LITERALLY as I typed that the STR stopped at the end of the pitlane.  I'm magic.

To be fair to McLaren, they haven't yet gone to Renault and said, your engine, it's a load of shit.

Give it until the next test.....

Renault would just give Gallic shrug and drag their heels with providing updates like they did when Horner and Newey bad mouthed them at every opportunity

Maybe it's their plan to get Tag Heuer back as a sponsor.
