Is there even a tutorial for half the stuff in this?

Dice never teach you anything. It's why lots of people find Battlefield games so obtuse

There's loads of things in this I don't understand yet and I've been playing BF since the beginning.

As commander I called in a tank last night and had no idea where to find it.

I reeeeally hope they patch suppression back in after fan backlash. It's seriously damaging my enjoyment getting sniped off gun turrets by people I'm firing volleys of .50 cal ammo at.

I can’t work out if the matchmaking is iffy or it’s bugged. I go from doing rather well to utter shite with no inbetween.

Can I mess around with my guns settings like BF1? I’ve no idea how the perks/specialisations (?) work and I don’t appear to be able to change anything.

If the squad leader doesn't issue any orders you've requested it'll change you to squad leader after a short amount of time apparently. Or just start your own squad.

Wait. How do you issue orders? I can just say yes, no, go go go and thanks

If you point down on the comma rose you'll request an order. If the squad leader doesn't give you a command in 60 seconds you'll become squad leader

The only commands are either attack or defend a base

Cheers. Can I alter the spread/recoil of my gun?

The matchmaking is region only. There are no skill ratings in BF

Usually if you get smashed it's because there's a squad or two communicating on the other team.

Grand operations attacking is the best way to learn because you can go at your own pace. Just hang back behind the rest of the team with a zoomed scope weapon and try to pop a few heads

I stuck scopes on my machine guns and found them far less accurate than getting headshots with iron sights. I’ve pulled off a few spectacular snipes from distance but you have to get up close to get take objectives.

The lack of people reviving really annoys me. I’ve shouted “you’re right next to me. Right fucking there” far too often. Bastards. They could learn a lot from the kids playing Fortnite.

Usually it's because they know someone is watching your corpse. Proximity to a downed soldier in no way indicated possibility of success. Its a common complaint but relatively unfounded. No point giving away another ticket and losing the squad spawn if a downed guy is exposed

Remember the scenes in full metal jacket and saving private Ryan where they are only a couple of meters away from their comrade but they can't get to them...

Hey fella

Uploaded a clip of me playing to show the sort of ranges you can engage at with a scope on Grand Operations. If you watch the first two minutes you'll see how little danger I am in and how I can still help my team by blocking out the respawning defender. I only got killed due to a bit of pretty crappy hit detection. You don't have to be on an objective to be essential to the taking of an objective.

Also, skip to 4m to see how accurate you can be at range. I pop a guy on a fortified turret through the aim slit from about 200m.

And one more for the cheap seats. I think I only get two kills in this whole five minute clip, but for people who find BF overwhelming and too chaotic it's a good example of how if you just hang back a bit behind your team with a ranged weapon you can still get points, cover your teammates and help win objectives. I came top scorer on this game despite being a total coward at the back. You can actually choose to play it quite leisurely if you want to.

Who the hell though it'd be good to force auto-spawn at the start of the round? FFS Dice! Half way through choosing my kit for the round and BAM! spawned before I finish selecting it.

I'm finding the net code / time-to-kill or whatever really off in this too. I'm getting killed when I'm sure I'm in cover, and I've had  loads of situations where I've hit someone with several rounds only for them to run into cover / go prone and then nail me with what feels like a single shot. There are quite a few people complaining of the same thing on the BF V forums. My KD in BF1 was pretty decent and I generally won far more fire-fights than I lost, but here it's painful.

Also, they need to fix the player noise - it's like the enemy are running around in carpet slippers! Their footsteps are pretty much silent. They need to bring back the little incidental shuffles and clinks of equipment that have been there in the past and which would alert you to a nearby soldier and give you chance to react.

I'd hoped that, after the pretty smooth launch of BF1, that this would be similar, but it looks like we're back to a good ol. buggy BF launch again.

Switch your sound settings up to war tapes. Makes footsteps and incidental noises much louder in the mix.

Cheers for this. What gun is that? Assault class, right?

I think its the 3rd one. With a 3x scope.

I haven't gone into the mechanics of the game at all yet. I'm still tweaking my controls in between every kill! Just trying to get the feel at the moment.

I'm getting pissed off with the shitty netcode or whatever is causing unfair firefights. Either that, or the Sten has the accuracy and damage of a sniper rifle or something (see clip below).

I shouldn't be getting insta-killed by an SMG at this range, and while it's possible that this player is somehow super accurate, I somehow doubt it - it's happening all the time.

My connection is fine and my ping is low, so this is more than likely Dice / EA's Battlefield launch shit as usual. <_<

I watched that clip 5 times over to try to spot something we were missing. A sniper from somewhere, or you not being on 100% or something. But no, thats just straight bullshit

Upgrades for the sten (dependent on path) are:

Quick Deploy

Quick Aim

Quick Reload

Less Horizontal Recoil

More Accurate Hipfire

Improved Stationary Accuracy

Magdump Hipfire

Improved Moving Accuracy

Less Vertical Recoil

He did get a headshot too, so might be a lucky magdump from the hip... Still, if you get this a lot it seems buggy.
