This is where we point out analysts are idiots, and then some industry insider says the whole billion dollar industry, my pension, and the survival of humanity depends on analysts.

I'm disappointed with myself for clicking on that link and giving them a page impression.

It means Pokemon you get via trade up to level 20 won't have a random chance of not doing the move you tell them to.

Ah roger that, didn't even realize that would be a mechanic!

Also is there no dedicated map button? Despite handheld mode being much better to control, the catching in particular, but the UI is still a bit slow and finicky.

This is an amazing game to watch being streamed.

I like the game a lot more than I was expecting, despite not being too keen on the catching mechanics, but it's hilarious to watch attempted catches going in the complete wrong direction. Presentation is great, and gives me lots of hope for the 'proper' game next year.

Button, left once, select, down twice, select, confirm use.

That's a really weird button combo for something I find myself using a lot. I've made it a little easier by putting it top left in my bag.

"Pokémon up to level 20 from other trainers will listen to you now" (or something like that), what does that mean?

If you traded a level 5 rattata for a mates Lvl 99 Mew the mew wouldn't let you use it in battle. Basically stops you trading your way out of the level curve.

I asked earlier in the thread but I'm still not sure: is it possible to return to Pewter City through Mt Moon from where I am in Cerulean City? I want to make my way back but can't find any way, only onwards to Lavender Town or Saffron City.

You can get back via a shortcut later on.

If you go through one of the caves - diglett cave maybe? Which is next to Vermilion I think it brings you out back near Viridian forest so you can get to Pewter City. Maybe, not tried just trying to remember from the old games.

Can you not play the Game Corner games in this version? Spent hours playing the slot machines in Blue on the Game Boy.

This game brings back memories, and is incredibly addictive. I only ever played Pokemon Red&Blue - once new Pokemon 'species' started coming out in later iterations, it killed the charm for me. I feel so dirty after playing a little over 8 hours today/tonight. Safe to say the charm is back for a while.

I managed to find the legendary Pokemon Arcanine completely unintentionally today -

Spoiler

which is one of the Pokemon you can ride around on the back of and move a lot quicker than just running.

I enjoy this.

Never played Pokemon before so forgive me:

- If I feed Pikachu six hundred smart candy...well, what happens?

- If I get a catch combo in the hundreds, will it mean anything? Doesn't appear to have spawned anything at all rare at this point and I'm around 75 combo.

Maybe I need to move beyond the opening five second area.

1) It's a new addition to the game with the candy I think (though I haven't played the last few. So smart candy increases special attack which are your non contact moves so with Pikachu it strengthens his thundershock / thunderbolt moves etc

2) Again it's a new feature to the series I believe but the catch combo's are meant to increase your likelihood of catching a shiny version of the pokemon. So if you want to collect them then carry on but if you aren't bothered I don't think it adds much to the game.

This is a slimmed down version of the pokemon games to help ease new players in by the looks of it.
