Maybe don’t be so confident, ya know? If Rakitic and Modric are in the mood, you might be in for a shock. I hope Croatia take the game to England. Something none of your other opponents have done thus far, Belgium reserves aside.

They've not really been in the mood thus far though, have they? I know,. World Cup semi final and all that but neither of them have particularly stood out throughout the whole competition.

The nerves are kicking in here as I prepare to head out and meet some mates. I am just hoping we give a good account of ourselves tonight and take it to the wire. If we lose, my pick of Croatia in the sweepstake at work was a touch of class.

I'm deriving a little bit of hope from the fact that Denmark's coach completely negated the much-vaunted Croatian midfield with a simple tactical tweak at half time in their game, that Croatia didn't really seem to have an answer for and eventually were pretty lucky to progress.

This is the game Kane cements the golden boot with a brace, hurtling England to the final defeating Croatia 3-1. Sterling also chips in with a goal mishitting a shot on the line and bobbles it in with his right buttock.

We got this boys.

Just noticed that the Radiotimes are no longer listing the match being on the BBC. Just ITV it seems.

I'm likely not the only one here, but before this tournament I was something of a lapsed England fan. I'd keep an eye on the qualifiers without actually watching most of them, and of course I'd be there come the big tournaments, but after so many years of disappointments and petulance disguised as PASHUN from the likes of Terry, Gerrard and Rooney, it's been hard to truly care. I didn't feel represented by the team at all.

Which is sad, because I owe my love of football to the national team. I was 9 in 1996, and whilst I followed the club game (I remember being utterly heartbroken by Cantona's winner in the cup final that year), I could take it or leave it. There were more important things. But then the Euros happened. My God, what a tournament that was. Hideous keepers kits, dentist chairs, the goal from Gazza, that fucking brilliant song - it was so easy for a kid to get swept up in it all. I watched every minute of England's games, leaping in euphoria after each goal, and again after beating Spain on penalties.

I was crushed after the semi final, but it didn't matter - I had fallen in love with the game. Not long after, I went to my very first match, watching on as Steve McManaman - my favourite player at the time - scored twice in a 2-0 win over Arsenal. My dad dug out (or more likely found in a charity shop) an old Crown Paints Liverpool shirt - I was retro before retro was a thing, and I wore it at every opportunity. My parents bought me a proper Premier League ball, and every day I'd take it to school, every kick of the ball feeling vital. France 98 rolled around, and there was no fucking chance I wasn't wearing the shirt - and sure enough, for my birthday in May, there it was in all it's reversible glory.

And this summer, something special has happened. All of that feeling, born from Euro 96, has come back. Over the last couple of years, Southgate's managed to get rid of the egos that permeated the England team, and built a likeable team, a team that we can be proud of. And somehow, despite a perceived lack of quality (and maybe with a bit of luck), they've got themselves a real chance of winning the whole bloody thing. Win or lose tonight, it doesn't matter - just as I did in 96, there's a whole generation of kids who have fallen in love with the game because of Southgate and his team. Let's hope that they bring the big golden monstrosity home with them - they deserve it, even if only for making this miserable old bastard believe again.

I gave up on football about 7 years ago. Haven't seen a minute of this World Cup so far and whenever England have played I've watched Bottom (for the most part, when the Sweden game was on I watched Casino Royal). I've still got some Bottom Live to watch tonight so if I keep not watching the games then England should be OK.

If they do make the final I'll have to watch it, although that will guarantee defeat.

Thought Vrsaljko was injured? He can’t be 100% but I’d rather have seen him not on the team sheet tbh.

Just blasted the pre match World in Motion prescription out rather loudly.

This could be an absolutely amazing night or shit. I have no idea which way it's going to go either.
