Just checked that out.....

I thought I was getting good but that is quite insane!

How can it be looked down upon?? Doesn´t the person making the stacks risk getting attacked while trying to build them up in the first place?

C4W or centre 4 wide is looked down on in a way because you can set it up without worrying about damage too much in PPT (you only get knocked out if the centre of your playing field is rocketed out the screen).

In T99 although it requires skill to build a stack quickly, once you’ve done it, you have time to stall (rotate blocks several times to stop them locking) and essentially chill while still sending out max damage and never being pushed up the screen. Some games like this go on for aaaages and it comes down to not making mistakes. It’s considered more boring and less skilful than constantly building T Spins under pressure. I wouldn’t say there is any consensus in T99 against 4 widing at all, just that in some tournaments (eg the streamer Tetrium does a 12 hour stream each month) you’re discouraged to do it (in his case by a place penalty).

From a viewer’s perspective, in PPT, watching two C4W players against each other would be more boring than other tactics. I guess it’s like in some fighting games when they disallow a character because they have an overly powerful yet boring strategy. There is one player for instance, Baseballboy, who does mind blowing spin setups which I think are super exciting to watch. In T99 there is an Israeli player I think called Ei Lara who is also a creative T Spin set up player. You can learn from these players whereas the ceiling for learning and enjoyment of watching 4 widing is a bit lower.

Has extra lyrics I've never heard before

https://open.spotify.com/album/6LRUdnlY48RCXDLIOVgXDS?si=HXev9czVTf-SqQXJXEQEyA

Full OST

Those lyrics did appear in the game, in the end credits version of the song, but not in the actual stage I don’t think.

What’s curious to me is there appear to be two tracks (at least, it’s almost three hours long and I haven’t heard it all yet!) that don’t belong to any stage that I recognize - ‘Here’ and ‘Like Never Before’. Can anyone place them?  Maybe they are just radically different?

Also a bit miffed that the retro Tetris theme is not included in the OST. That’s a real banger when it gets going.

Can this be purchased or is it only available for streaming?

edit - nvm, found it on Bandcamp - bought!

1 million rotations (???)

you can check that in your stats page - push triangle to bring up your challenges, then once more to see stats.

I’m at around 600,000 rotations and I’ve been playing every weekend since it launched - reached level 100 well over a year ago, I can’t imagine how much you would have to play to have got the million rotations legitimately already.

The whole soundtrack and experience is phenomenal. Makes me raise my arms in the air when I’ve completed some stages. I love it.

Pump them in the air or just held aloft, triumphantly?

I've started playing this again.  No other song for me beats Connected.   Anyway, I'm shit at Tetris. Is there any specific mode that would teach me decent strategy or shall I just trawl back through this thread?

I’ve got a bit mad on Tetris.  Been playing this one more or less everyday now. Forest Dawn is lovely with the rain and thunder going on. Currently stuck at Celebration.  Too fast when I get to 20 lines. Amazing on headphones.

on my laptop I have the Tetri.io website up and I’ve got Tetris on my ps vita too if I’m away from laptop.

Has anyone tried the PC version of this streaming to an Oculus Quest? I know there's a Quest version itself but it sounds like its a significant visual downgrade. I need particles!

I answered this question myself by buying both versions. It's night and day - the pc version blows the Quest out of the water graphically. So much more immersive

Are you playing it wirelessly? If so can you still use a controller?

If so I know what version I'll be buying. :D

I used sideloaded Virtual Desktop and then just launched Tetris EFfect in Steam Vr from the epic games launcher. Used a PS4 controller plugged into PC by USB - didn't need any configuration.

Both have 14 day / 2hour usage refund so easy to buy both and try. the PC version seemed crisper as well as having more particles

I have been given a PSVR by a friend, and bought Tetris on a recommendation. One of the best games I have ever played. Fuses a bit of Rez, with classic tetris. Stunning visuals, gameplay, and music. Just amazing.

I wish this were also on Switch, in TATE mode. <3
