Forza Horizon 4 - Open-UK Racing

Recommended Posts

If the 'club' is anything like clubs in the previous Horizons, I always found them good for finding an alternative next rival in the, ahem...rivals events. I think there was a separate leaderboard for club members only, which was always preferable for me than racing against a random rival.

Having said that, since it's introduction, Rivals was always my favourite side-discipline in the Forzas, but it looks like I may be on my own in that, as it seems not many of you chaps are taking part or posting times. IT'S ONE OF THE BEST BITS GUYS!! GET ON IT! It has its own tab in the menus and there's an absolute LOAD of events available.

I also think there is a bug affecting club's though, I've seen many, many people who are a member of a club called Â86 or something similar, which I don't think is an actual club.

I've even seen my name in an after race menu showing as a member of Â86, which is obviously not correct as I joined our club. Anyone else noticed this?

Yup, definitely noticed that. Likely a bug pulling the wrong club name, as you say. Devs should have public bug trackers, I never know if I'm causing more work for them to delete duplicate reports, or whether they'd like to know about something like that.

After getting by the first year and finally getting the online side to work, this game is becoming better than i imagined.  Just completed my first live forzathon challenge and being able to join other peoples challenges with ease with LB button makes the whole online/solo integration seamless.

Like how they have clearly separated challenges this time round and makes alot more sense, so your no picking the wrong car for the challenge ahead.

Only downside is Edinburgh has put me on a big downer, thinking back to the times playing PGR2 and that we will never get to see another PGR game for next gen platforms made :( Suppose replaying the road/street races round Edinburgh will have to suffice

At least TDU is coming back.

Anyone else get slowdown on this when driving across the world map? I assume it’s network related but it’s annoying. It’s kinda like a slowmo effect for a second or two.

Console or PC? On PC at least, I can't say Iv'e noticed any slowdown - is it some kind of FPS stutter you're experiencing?

In other news, I finally cracked and picked up the Ultimate Edition :omg:

I've had this, it slows down then goes in fast forward for a sec, usually after pausing. Annoying but rare thankfully.

Yep that’s it. It must be network related. I assume there’s a way to just play offline without disconnecting from my WiFi so I’ll try that and see how it goes.

I've been driving around fairly randomly in the Escort, just discovering roads and enjoying the nostalgia of those 80s Ford switches and dials. Without intending to I unlocked level 20 and, blimey, this is where the game suddenly opens up. Forzathon, seasons changing every week or so, Forza coins earned from challenges, etc. Should probably treat everything prior to level 20 as the intro, and I would have done it sooner had I realized.

@stefcha

This is what I was talking about...

On the first drift event you do, Robert, the NPC, lets you borrow his Nissan 240. As soon as it gives you control, he says 'The first thing to do, really, is go into your car settings and switch off traction control.'

Ok, I thought. So I go into the menus and look for car settings...

I think, right, he must mean 'Settings' then, so I click that...

image-1.thumb.jpeg.5678e4008b7bcbc46328aa4ed9af6c7b.jpeg

That brings up this screen. I can't see anything about Car Settings or Traction Control there, so I click into every available panel but can't find anything. I ask here and I'm told it's in Difficulty, but that is greyed out, so I can't look in there. The only way to get into the difficulty settings is to back out of the event, but then I'm not in the Nissan!

So, why did Robert insist that 'the first thing' I do is go into settings and change some options?

Like I said, I'm presuming the car he's let me borrow already has traction control switched off, so why the fuck is he telling me to switch it off?

Really, really bad design that.

Did you get it sorted out, Sausage?

Is it just me, or does the game keep turning your car around when you go into beauty spots, barn finds etc? Like you car will literally be facing the opposite direction when you get back in it?

Without giving anything away, the game actually later addresses that elephant in the room.

Hasn't everybody got it set to call you something stupid? It still makes me smile!

That's "Your Majesty" to you.

I was "Sausage" in FH3.

My actual name is in the list. My missus was a bit freaked out when she heard the cut scene call me by my name...

Same. It's constantly astounding my daughter that the game is calling me by my name, took her a while to notice but then she got so excited after doing a huge double take when she caught on :)

So I did the first two episodes of Drift Club today. As I was told, it's not as resoundingly awful as I had feared and I did manage to three-star both.

However... I might be experiencing a case of 'growing old', but fuck ME they are wrist/finger killers on the pad. Slewing down the road like a badger drunk on cider by flicking the car left and right continually is knackering! Think I am going to have to do these in little chunks otherwise I am going to get a massive case of RSI.

I've started doing the NSX challenges - for the 3 road sprints*, I've done 2 and now don't seem to have any more available. Will it count if I go back and do one I've already done, but in the NSX instead? Not sure how to proceed, otherwise. I like that there's this extra element to it, with cars to buy with Forza cash or whatever it's called.

* the name of the race type in the challenge was confusing, it didn't quite align with anything on the map. I mean, I just tried a road race which was point to point, won it, and it counted as 1 of 3 done. But it would be better if the wording was clearer, so you can filter the map to more easily find these things.

Give the pad to a kid. My lad spends half his time doing precisely that, rather than driving in a straight line, bless.

I agree, the NSX challenges are not clear at all. You can re-do any sprint event in the nsx to unlock the task. All of the eligiable ones have 'sprint' on the end of the name. As far as I know, you just have to look around the map for them.

I'm trying to do all the seasonal events before the season changes on Thursday (in single player/solo). Some of them are very good.

I started one last night called 'Train Yard something'. It's an offroad/rally monsters event and it is possibly the best event I've played in any Horizon so far. It's was INSANE with loads of smashing shit up and jumping off the sides of some very impressive mountainsides in some very quick motors (Ford RS 2000 for me). If you haven't already, you MUST have a go before Thursday. I upped the opponent difficulty to expert for the extra points/cash/spins and the racing was very close.

I'm finding winning the last event a bit of a challenge to come first mind, but when it's this good I don't mind doing multiple reruns at all.

For those who have done it, how long does the 30 mile race take? I guessed an hour, which would need me to schedule some gaming time

. I hope its not in one of those 3 wheelers!

I think you can check the times for it can't you? All the events usually have a table so just add about 5 mins to the top time.

At least....the Outrun event did.

Was a bit annoyed when before doing the Skyfall race I was asked to pay over £7.

Don't make it part of the standard game if it's a purchase.

I refuse.

I do like this game though. I enjoy trying to drive to my next race as the crow flies, punctuated by the occasional dead stop by a tree.

Occasional being the operative word - it's actually quite surprising when you come to a grinding halt in front of a major tree or one of those stone walls around villages - the destructibility % is sky high in this.

You can count on me to be setting some times obviously. But I'm just busy at the moment trying to defend my honour against this git

I've found something I really love about this game: rivals. It's just time trialling and it isn't that well developed but it feels so sweet. In 20 minutes I went from hating the senna to loving it, doing the monthly rivals challenge. At least it think it was the senna, wasn't paying that much attention.

Just like back in the PGR days :hat:
