So for the EX-ACT, what's the timing exactly? Just after hitting or simultaneous?

I need to log some practice in the Void.

Its a bit of  bitch as the timing windows all feel slightly different depending on the specific attack but the general rule is that it is immediately after it. I have 3 or 4 single attacks within combos that I have the timing pretty good on so rather than try to Exceed everything I have started only doing it for specific parts of combos or individual moves. Need a LOT more practice to do it consistently as right now I am maybe hitting a 30% success rate but when it works it is fucking beautiful!

I will never be good at this game ..... there are too many things to remember during combat

I find it helps to buy skills one at a time and master them before buying another. The game just keeps throwing devil bringers at me, though, and I have no idea what half of them do.

Beat the mission 6 boss yesterday. Was a bit of a push over.

Care to elaborate? Do you mean the Super EX outfits? I thought these were just extra outfits? Would love to be proved wrong.

Oh I think you're right, I'd literally based my guess off an article headline, tbf.

Finished this tonight; good God it just gets better and better. And then, after it finishes and you start again, it bloody gets better still.

Also incredibly rare in being a game that I think could do with being a bit longer.

Cutscenes all need skipping, mind.

yah Capcom could really do with putting in a 'ignore all cutscenes' option.  It's especially annoying when you retry missions.

They could also do with a 'barebones' menu option too, it's stupid how long it takes (on PS4) to go from the 'Start / Customise' menu to the Customise screen itself and back again!

Yea, it’s definitely a mistake to have cutscenes as separate loads AND not have the ability to disable them somehow. I guess the cinematic director got his way.

I was WAY off with 2 playthroughs to get all upgrades too. I’m now not sure I’ll get everything after 3 TBH. Although I haven’t really been using Dr Faust, which may make it faster.

I’m playing through human difficulty at the minute, to mop up some things. Mission 7 is great for the multiplayer aspect. I was on exactly the same time as the other player and we ran into each other at every point. When that happens it’s really cool as you’re in the same area fighting the same enemies. Really wish they had more of that in there!

It actually explains the area’s design. It has enemies spawn, you go upstairs and 2 of them enemy spawners let out a tonne of lizards. I remember thinking it was tough when I did it on my own but if there’s 2 of you it’s a different story.

Really, REALLY hoping for a 3 player bloody palace mode.

The more I think about it the more sense it makes. Don’t need any fancy environments, just need a floor, 3 players and a tonne of spawning enemies.

Got up to the boss in Mission 8 last night. It’s quite a tough mission. Died once to one of those praying mantis things. The Knights can get a bit tricky as well when the big one gets enraged.

I feel like I’m always forgetting one system or another. I either forget to use the whip thing to pull enemies in, EX-ACT or my devil bringer.

Nero’s dodge is a bit useless (or I’m useless with it) and I really don’t like the way RB totally modifies your inputs. Feels so odd to have your lock on be what modifies moves.

Bayonetta is my favourite game in this genre but I’m struck by how much easier it is in comparison. Hopefully this will feel amazing once I get to grips with it.

I finished Human mode on this today. That’s 3 playthroughs done and I still don’t have all the upgrades!!

Also still missing 3 secret missions, no idea where they are as I thought I had been pretty thorough on the last run.

Still feel like I’ve barely started, I’m all over the place at points. My tiny mind can’t cope with Dante’s multiple styles. I’ll start something off only to fail because I’m still in one style when I should have switched like 3 moves ago.

Also, thanks to a secret mission I found it’s possible to 1 shot the scissor ghosts, which is cool.

Such a shame there’s not more people playing it.

I've got one hour a day, from midnight to 1am (when I can be arsed). It's better that I spend that time on something I'm familiar with as there's no chance my brain is going to store anything in that time-slot. :(

Really enjoying my Devil Hunter playthrough - actually taking time to try and apply some thought rather than mashing, and it’s much more satisfying. Actually put together some reasonable beginner combos playing through Mission 8 this evening.

was half toying with getting Sekiro, but I know I’ll regret it because  a) the difficulty, but mainly b) not giving this the attention it deserves. It’s fab.

I couldn't work that out. It seemed from the picture that you have to shoot them in the back of the head, but I couldn't work out how to do it so any tips would be gratefully received. :)

I bought Sekiro because I got hyped up for it, so need to split time between that and DMCV. Also I still need to finish Crackdown 3, but I suspect I'll be dipping in and out of that since I've mopped up all but one side-mission and the final boss, so it's just the orbs to find which is going to take *hours* (fun, but hours nonetheless)

The Cavaliere Angelo boss fight is amazing. Proper clash of swords madness. Also I somehow did it without getting hit and with an SS rank first time. Never happened to me in a DMC!

I prefer playing Dante to the others so much though that switching back faintly annoys me. Nero feels really limited in comparison.

Conversely, as a beginner to the series, I’m really enjoying playing as Nero as the move set feels more manageable. With Dante I feel completely out of my depth.

In the spirit of learning I’ve started replaying certain missions to help “bake in” some of the moves in to muscle memory. It really helps.

Devil Hunter run done. Second last mission is DMC at its finest and then the final mission was a piece of absolute piss compared to that. Straight into SoS mode and it’s a lot easier than the Devil Hunter run was because I can actually do a few things at the right moments.

Going back to the first real boss that was in the demo after my full run through was very amusing with the actual fight playing out pretty much like a cut scene as he got smashed about. NG+ Nero is almost too powerful!

Things seem to have been left fairly open for DLC and there are still a lot of hours to be put in before I move onto anything else  so couldn’t be happier with it.

”Dont you say it...” :omg:

I just started playing as Dante and agree he feels overwhelming at the moment. Massively powerful, but the thought of five or six different weapons with four different styles is crazy.

I think Bloody Palace would be really helpful as a beginner. I don’t get the sense that I’d want to plough straight into another play through at the moment because it feels like there’s a lot of pointless padding (mainly running down corridors) in between each fight (and some of them are really brief), so it feels like an incredibly inefficient way of getting practice in.

Still really enjoying playing it, though.

Do Gold orbs reappear on subsequent play throughs? I feel like I have to hoard them.

Just finished Mission 15, so managed to put a fair dent in this today. Still feel like I’m utter crap at it, though.

It would appear no. Haven’t seen any as far as I can remember.

I still have no idea what I'm doing in the Prologue and continue to get a B ranking, but I had thought that I had been improving on my previous button-mashing flailing only to get an A for Dante's first level on Human difficulty.

:hmm:

I was changing up weapons and everything, but I did get hit a few times. A no-damage run is possible, at least at this difficulty but I'm still not that good at dodging, especially those spinning armoured enemies.

I still feel like I’m missing something with the indirect feel of V. Are there any good guides for his combat style? Weirdly I’ve SSS’d a few times but mainly due to mashing, but I never feel like I’m pulling moves off properly.
