I'm getting used to the world map now, if the reasons for doing it are to use the countries to inspire different kind of tracks. There's been some decent ones, castles and windmills marking a change, but nothing outstanding.

Track Central is not loading any tracks for me. It did once. The search didn't work either.

Is there a way to completely disable the ghosts? I made them 100% opaque but they are still visible :(.

Well, no wonder you can see them.  100% transparent might work if that's an option (or 0% opaque).

Diamonds are there from the start, you just have to get one to unlock what times are required for each track.

Sigh. I'm not enjoying this. I'm level 72 now, and there is still some way to go before I unlock the last of the training courses ffs.

I'm guessing the extreme tracks unlock at level 100? :(

It's just too grindy. And 90%of the grind is not fun because it's stupid shit like "get 30 seconds of airtime" which is very easy, it just means you abandon any hope of setting a good time.. So I'm still just grinding my way through the points and not feeling any motivation to actually set good times

The engine etc, even a lot of the tracks are very good. But the surrounding structure is appalling.

I'm pretty sure my bali blast x-cross is bugged. I only had a bronze on it so went back to get the gold. First couple of times I just thought I was doing shit as even with a good run, I was miles behind 4th place. So I looked at the leaderboards and I wasn't that far off the fastest, with the fastest being around the 33s mark and me on 39 something. I've just watched a few youtube videos of people getting gold on it...doing 41s runs!!!! I'll need sub 35 to get gold on mine! Bizarre.

I played a bit more at the weekend, but I'm done with it now.  I haven't even looked at any leaderboards yet, because they don't automatically appear when you hover over a track.

I'll probably dig it out again for some local multiplayer when I have friends over, but that's about it.  Such a shame, as the riding's good.

I'm just diving in and unlocking slowly, setting times when I'm in the mood. Not in a rush to unlock every track and get higher rank. Leaderboards are only a couple of extra clicks, sure its a bit of a step back with QOL touches but isn't a dealbreaker for me.

Really enjoying the riding in this but holy cow the grind is awful - playing it with my 5 year old daughter who loves it but rather than grind for the harder tracks as I would we're actually just looking for all the squirrels which she thinks is fantastic.

More au faix with the world map now but just having to grind to level 48 hoping it'll open the harder tracks is putting me off.

Anyone up for starting a weekly mini tournament for custom tracks on Track Central, kind of like the early Fusion days?  It turned out to be quite a lot of fun while it lasted (for a couple of weeks) and we ended up finding some really cool well designed custom tracks, some of which were on par with the ones the devs made.  It's also a nice side distraction from the grind of the main game.

The only thing I'm not sure of is how we're all going to compare our times since it's more of a split between the consoles this year than last time round.  Suggestions and feedback are welcome.

Also, here's a link to the Fusion Custom Track Tournament for nostalgia purposes -

I think I might be done with it, too. I keep meaning to play it but then end up doing something else because pretty much everything about this feels like such a slog. Nothing is a deal breaker on its own but when you add up every irritation it starts to taint the experience.

I think Eurogamer said this was a return to form for the franchise and I’m not sure I agree. The emphasis seems to be on a loot grind rather than the time trial grind.

That doesn't really make sense, the level load times are a pain and the world map is annoying to navigate but there's no meaningful loot grind. Any grinding you have to do is explicitly based on completing courses.

Sorry, that’s phrased poorly. The emphasis seems to be on getting your level up, opening loot boxes, etc. It’s all meaningless to me and just serves to get in the way. I feel like I’ve been playing for a reasonable amount of time and there’s no sense that tough levels are coming soon.

As has been mentioned, there are things they could do to get you to focus on the competitive aspect more, like focus on leaderboards (and they really need to do cross platform ones). But instead they’ve put a lot of effort into making crappy customisation and loot boxes.

The loot boxes are completely irrelevant - I haven't opened any beyond the first lot. The leveling is just the age old mechanic of unlocking more courses as a reward for completing previous courses. Most games in this genre do this.

But this takes it to a completely unwanted extreme level, and is a complete change of direction for the franchise.  I've got gold on every track I have unlocked.  But I can't unlock any new tracks without replaying the ones I've already got gold on.  It's rubbish.

Sticking loot boxes in the game in the current climate is so tone-deaf that I can scarcely believe that they’ve done it. It doesn’t really matter that they’re completely irrelevant and don’t affect the actual game at all, the fact that they’re there creates such bad feeling that loot boxes get the blame for the various issues T:R has.

Serious question: does anyone actually understand the progression structure in this? How do you unlock new levels? What do the various currencies like gears etc do? What does getting medals mean in terms of progression, and what does completing contracts do? It feels like a real achievement to make a game as simple as Trials, with a structure that’s as opaque as Trials Rising;  I feel like I’ve been playing this for hours, and I’m still on the levels where you pretty much just razz it to the end of the course on your first go, with no idea how far in I am, or when I’ll unlock anything more difficult.

I quite like the idea of contracts as a way of putting a new twist on an earlier, easier level, but the actual implementation is just maddeningly, wilfully obscure.

As I mentioned in my first post, none of the issues are a deal breaker on their own. The fact that I get a "You got a loot box" screen that I have to wait 2 seconds for the game to load up, then press a button to dismiss it, then wait for the next screen to show up, which still doesn't have a bloody leaderboard on it, is absolutely crazy to me.

The fact that they're completely irrelevant just makes that worse because they're wasting my time with something that isn't remotely interesting, and it feels like the actual game is buried beneath all this garbage - I complete a track in a minute or two, and then get kicked back to this awful and slow menu/map with lots of loading and prompts to dismiss before getting another two or three minutes of game.

Completely, this is what is really shit about it. All golds (apart from the glitched track) and a few platinums and still required to grind to open up later tracks. Its bloody infuriating. I've spent quite a bit of time going through every damn track trying to find the ones that I haven't yet golded. The progression system is completely broken if getting golds consistently, track after track is not enough to continue progress to the next set.

It is frustrating!  But my suggestion would be to focus on the contracts that reward the most XP in order to advance through the levels as quickly as possible.  Some of the contracts provide you with 2000+ XP and some reward you with 200.

You will unlock more tracks quite quickly.

Also, save all you coins for unlocking helium and donkey bikes as they give you even more tracks and contracts to do.

But yes, it isn't a great system.  I just think it's their (misguided) way of extending the longevity of the game for the average Joe who is not necessarily into shaving off milliseconds from their run, but want more "content" for their money.  But the riding is too good to quit!

As much as it pains me I have noticed that certain challenges reward a lot of do, so I will focus on them, even if it is "do 11 backflips and 8 front flips". No joke, that was one that I did. A complete joke.

Personally, I don’t have any problem with the loot boxes. I think they work well in providing a steady stream of stuff to customise your character/bike with. I also think the actual customisation options themselves work well too.

However, I totally agree about the progression structure! Put simply - it’s shit! It’s that bad i’m now not even sure whether my game is progressing at all, or whether it’s just glitched or something.......

I’ve mainly just been playing through the tracks, in order to unlock the next set and as much of the game as possible. Almost all the tracks i’ve unlocked so far (I’m up to the first set of hard tracks) have been easy to Platinum, most of them done first go. Fair enough, as most of the fun comes from Time Trialling them and competing on the Leaderboards anyway. However, even though i’ve blasted through the game bagging Platinums, i now seem to have hit a wall where no other tracks are unlocking. I’m something like Lv64 and all I currently have to do on the map are endless “do 10 backflips” style missions, on tracks i’ve already “completed”. The game has kept telling me to “complete the stadium finals to unlock the grand final” but......er...... i don’t have any stadium finals left to complete, even though I do have 3 stadiums that only have 3 sets of races unlocked. Should there be 4 for each stadium? Fuck knows! Hahaha. The whole thing is a mess. It’s like they’ve tried to make the game appear as though it has more content than it actually does, by making you grind through levels for hrs which is rubbish. Also, there should be some way of quickly finding a specific track (all listed in order on a menu) and being able to see your friends best times whilst highlighting it. I’m sure it usd to be like that on Evo.

Oh and what’s going off with the obviously fake times at the top of the leaderboards? People cheating?

I genuinely wonder if the initial design included people having to complete each track at each medal level to unlock the next medal. Then they decided this was a stupid idea but forgot to rebalance the XP. The XP is obviously structured to require multiple replays of every level.

The whole progression system just seems more like a bug than intentional design.

They've always been there, its just cross platform now. They were PC only on previous iterations as obviously that version is open to Cheat Engine/hacks.

I'm still only like level 68, slowly ranking up by setting some times. I understand people wanting to get through the game relatively quick to unlock all tracks ala previous games, but the player bases on previous games died off very quick once the more casual players had opened all tracks up, got some golds and never went back. Obviously they've gone about extending the game's length in the wrong way, but I can see why they felt the need to extend it. It can be refind and RedLynx themselves have said about their upcoming

There's also way way way more tracks at launch than any previous game in the series, you can have more tracks unlocked on this than on base Fusion in around 5-6 hours play.

Greetings Riders,

Thank you to all the players who have shared their experiences with Trials Rising. We’ve seen a lot of amazing creations, memorable moments and personal victories and we’re very happy that so many players are enjoying their time with the game. We’d also like to thank you all for letting us know when you’ve encountered issues. These reports are very helpful and the team has been hard at work investigating the bug reports we have received and working on fixes.

Our first post-launch patch should be available on all platforms within the next 2 weeks. One frequently discussed issue that will be fixed in this patch is the Stadium Finals bug that prevents players from improving scores by matching them against top scores from the leaderboards. Full patch notes for this first patch will release on these forums later this week.

This first patch will not address everything so we’d like to also share some insights about a few of the top issues we are working on for later patches.

Progression – Players have let us know that they’d like to progress more quickly through the game and we are looking at ways we can address this. Our focus has been on providing more opportunities for players to earn fame as well as ways that skilled players could unlock tracks faster.

Inventory – We’ve heard from some players that their inventory is duplicating items and some have already maxed out the space available in the inventory. The team is hard at work to get to the bottom of this issue.

Leaderboards – There’s been a few issues reported about leaderboards and fixing these are also a high priority for the team. Removing cheaters and investigating glitched scores is an ongoing process that is already underway. We’re also investigating some rare cases where scores fail to save to the leaderboards.

Gear Crates – We are aware that some players have stopped receiving Gear Crates for Level Ups and the team is investigating this issue. We will also soon begin rotating the contents of Gear Crates to provide more variety to the rewards players receive from them.

Track Editor Saves & Track Central – We’ve heard reports of track editor save files going missing and the team is working to identify why. We’re also looking at the feedback we’ve received regarding Track Central and are prioritizing fixes and improvements for our track sharing platform.

As always for the Trials team, the feedback and bug reports we get from the community play a big role in how we prioritize bug fixes and feature improvements for future updates. Thank you once again for all the feedback you have shared with us so far. Stay tuned to these forums and our social media for the latest news about Trials Rising.

Btw, here's the diamond difficulty spreadsheet. Obviously the more that have it, the easier it is to get. Power Bike is easiest and as such unlocks Diamond times for all tracks.:

There's also a Trials Discord that most/all the top riders use, great for hints and tips:

Shame no mention of cross-platform friends leaderboards in that update. Seems like the cross-platform thing only serves the purpose of pushing your time down the global rankings!
