Barnet have come from behind against Brentford and are 2-1 up now.  :D

Edit - And two minutes later it's 2-2.

The penalty for 2-2 was a blatant dive, from every angle I've seen, too.

It was an excellent cup tie. That equalising third goal for Barnet :o

That third Barnet goal was an absolute peach of a free kick. I wasn't going to bother watching it but I am glad I did. Brentford had so many chances to win but Barnet looked quite dangerous on the break. The Brentford fans standing up behind the goal were a bunch of bellends so I am glad they didn't win.

Here's the third Barnet goal.

The VAR being at only chosen games is a bit shit. Chelsea rightly didn't have a penalty against them yesterday after VAR but Brentford got a dodgy one tonight. It needs to be either in all games or in none.

Hands up who never knew the bit on the totally football podcast yesterday about how refs run diagonally across the pitch to cover the quadrants furthest away from the linos ?

Over 40y of watching football and never ever heard that mentioned before, or even spotted it, I'm going to look out for it now.

Fair. But I'd still say we'll know even more if he loses one of those and can drag the team back. The longer the run goes on, the more difficult it's going to be to pick them up. If he can do that, he's got it.

Me either, going to have to watch that next time I'm at a game.

Qatar comfortably into the Asian Cup final to meet Japan, with a 4-0 win over the UAE.

They've won every one of the six games, scoring 16 goals without reply.

Hope they get soundly beaten.

How many in the team are actually from Qatar?

18 of the 23 man squad. Ró-Ró is from Portugal, Bassam Al-Rawi is Iraqi-born, Karim Boudiaf is from France, Boualem Khoukhi was born in Algeria and Almoez Ali is from Sudan.

It's not as it once was with a spate of fast-tracked South Americans like Sebastian Soria or Fabio Cesar in the past. Just a relatively young side who've mostly started their careers in Qatar.

That's not bad going for such a small footballing nation. Probably been growing these players in a man somewhere ready for 2022

The Aspire Academy seems to be such a lab (or man. Maybe they do use a big fat man. We'll never know). There's rumours of them scouting outside the country for that academy to push them into the team, which isn't exactly ideal, but beats handing out passports with every contract.
