No surprises at all from Arsenal. Pretty rubbish all round. Hard to know what Emery's plan is. He hasn't had a fortune to spend, naturally, but he's brought in enough to think there should be some progress. The sloppiness is still there. We can't defend. Playing out from the back has pretty much been a disaster, we're resorting to hoofing it more often than not. We've got injury issues but tough shit. You could argue that City are simply the better team by some distance but they'll have tougher games against bottom half opposition. Arsenal are drifting, there's very little to be excited about in my opinion. All very unfair on Emery at this stage where we're probably still thinking CL is a possibility and we at least need to secure Europa. There's not a lot of wiggle room with budget, players he doesn't want and our modest but crucial ambitions for European football. I would have expected something more though. We're still a rabble.

He's just newly signed on loan for us a few weeks ago, he has only made a few cameos but looks phenomenally talented. Blistering speed, great touch and control and he has these beautiful little trademark one-touch finishes which are jizz-worthy. 

 

Great attitude too, considering who his dad is, that he's only 18 and is on a half season loan from psg there's no sign at all of the kind of ego that can hamper some really gifted players. 

 

He'll be at least as good as his dad, I think, I am dreaming that we can extend his loan somehow.

Correct. With all that money, and disregard for the FFP rules, they are the best team.

 

It would certainly be a shame if they won it again.

Haha, love to think he’d be as a good as his dad. If he is he’ll be going for £100m not before long.

It'd be a shame if either of the current top two won it. However as its almost inevitable I'd much rather it be City than that insufferable lot.

My Liverpool supporting chums seem to be bottling it before the team do, they genuinely think they have a hard game tomorrow - West Ham are a joke side at the moment and rival Huddersfield for being the worst side in the league at times so I can only think it’s a bit of reverse psychology at play.

 

I expect Liverpool to win and have a bigger goal difference than they start with.

Liverpool should win easily but West Ham can be a tricky team on the day. Depends how strong Liverpool are mentally too. A month ago they were 7 points clear with a chance to go 10. Now they're 2.

Anyone can beat West Ham. Even a side like Notts County can beat West Ham. They're a weird side. I think Marko Arnautović has ruined them this season. How can someone who is arguably their most gifted player and one of their biggest earners do that to them in January? It's an utter disgrace. He obviously wanted some mega-bucks move to China (LOL) that fell through and it has disrupted the entire squad. Stop kissing the badge when you score please. Remember when Mark Noble picked a fight with that pitch invader? Pick a fight with Marko Arnautović instead as he's ruining that club. Imagine managing him and Andy Carroll. Sweet Jesus.

I've no idea how years of failure makes a rival team insufferable.

The Aguero handball goal yesterday was interesting as they are changing the laws to cover I believe -  at present the law has the word deliberate in it, meaning an accidental goal going in off the hand should count (though refs usually chalk them off if they see them deliberate or not) - so I'd say his hat trick goal stood correctly as he didn't mean it. 

 

In future they will remove the word deliberate so any goal going in off the hand is automatically disallowed.

Fret ye not Liverpool fans. We're proper bin juice at the moment. Any team that has to put Masuaku at LB and Ogbonna at CB is going to get everything it deserves. We have the mother of all injury crisis' (as we seem to every year) but your title aspirations most certainly are not going to hit a bump tonight.

 

I think we'll do well to keep it to a three goal deficit. I'm going for 0-4

When you get stuff such as below,do you it as comparable - being happy someone has died so they are less likely to be caught?

 

One email reportedly sent by Gianni Infantino (then UEFA general secretary, now FIFA president) told City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak to think positive, City's chief legal adviser Simon Cliff reportedly said in an email that the City chairman 'would rather spend £30m on the 50 best lawyers in the world to sue [UEFA] for the next 10 years', and another claims Cliff replied to a City employee regarding the death of one of seven UEFA investigators with the comment 'One down, six to go.'

So where’s the cut off then? Is it the monetary amount? Is cheating in transfers under £20m OK? Under £15m? Or is it that cheating at a youth level is OK, but senior level cheating is crossing a line? Maybe it’s only bad if there’s a distasteful email leaked.

 

I can think of plenty of reasons why a neutral would prefer Liverpool to win the league. I can think of plenty of reasons why a neutral would prefer City to win the league. I can probably think of even more reasons why a neutral would prefer Spurs to win the league.

 

But this idea that everyone should get behind Liverpool in an arbitrary two-team comparison because they are ‘the good guys’ due to City’s ‘bad guys’ transfer dealings… That’s not a road you’re gonna convince many people to go down.

My favourite part was Ince claiming that Steve Bruce or Mark Hughes or himself could have done the same thing. Poor old Ince. I never forgave him (I was a West Ham fan as my second team as a kid) when he put that United kit on before he'd signed for them.

You can see his point in theory, he's thinking "Former player who is loved comes back ergo winning".  But even as someone who wants to see how Ole's team deals with disappointment before proclaiming him God Of Football, he's already brought a lot more than that.  I think Ince is over-remembering how much affection there is for him there and massively overselling his motivational skills.  With the possible exception of Hughes that selection simply don't have that and I think Hughes has lost it in his decade of management failure.
