More home games on Sky for Cardiff (and none away so far).

5.30 before Christmas against Man U and then New Years Day against Spurs.

I can see the Man U game being a bit tetchy as everyone in South Wales will be in the pub at 12.

Edit - any our game against wolves is moved to a Friday as well and in TV at end of November.

Scotland have lost 2 - 1 to Isreal. Apparently Scotland hit a new low and only the goalie McGregor deserves any plaudits the rest were dire.

BBC quotes.

 Jeezo.

McLeish was an absolute disaster of an appointment and everyone knew it at the time except the SFA. He only got the job as a favour from an old pal, in his media appearances he appears to either be permanently drunk or suffering from dementia, which is borne out in his tactics and team selections. Besides that, even in his heyday he was an extremely shite manager.

More and more players seem to be taking the huff with him, even mild-mannered Andy Robertson has had a dig about how in trying to accommodate two great left backs neither he nor Tierney gets to play left back.

Scotland have a decent enough player pool at the moment with a number of players who are more than good enough to get us to qualify for 2020, we should be setting our sights on winning the league c playoffs. Instead we lose to a team ranked 94th and will be relegated I expect, as he plays said players out of position, drops them for an apparently random selection of utter dreck like Johnny Russell or Stephen O'Donnell, or falls out with them.

Reading more about this... weird that Tierney is put as a left centre back and Robertson is the wing back, I'd have put them the other way around in terms of attacking / defensive emphasis. Robertson at left back and Tierney as a winger would be pretty good, no? They're both pretty capable all-rounders so the idea of a maraudering left wing with them both switching, overlapping, underlapping etc as the flow of play requires is a pretty tasty prospect. Sticking either of them in a back three is a waste.

Apparently there was an England game on earlier today, anyone hear anything about that?

I listened to about 30 minutes of it and the commentators were just chatting amongst themselves and making jokes about how pointless the game seemed. I switched off at half time.

Gibraltar won 1-0 in Armenia to record their first competitive win. It won't give them much chance of making Euro 2020, but I'm sure it's nice.

Reports are that Armenia played the Liechtenstein anthem instead of Gibraltar's by mistake. Now, unless they decided to play it with lyrics, it seems more likely they played God Save The Queen - the de facto national anthem of Gibraltar as a British dependency (much like Scotland and Wales but unlike the terribly boring other two, they do have their own anthem).

But hey, they're reporting Liechtenstein for some reason.

Not much to speak about in the Ireland - Denmark match. Denmark the better team, Ireland's best chance only coming because Denmark offered to stop playing due to an injury for Arter and Hendrick had other ideas. A penalty shout at the end that was never gonna happen, Christie had a drive from range that Schmeichel was comfortably equal to, and Arter cleared off the line from a Kjaer header.

The most interesting part for me was that the scoreboard inadvertently had Denmark represented as the Greenland flag.

I think it's because the Nations League is exclusively on Sky instead of ITV which has contributed to the lack of interest. I don't have Sky and England are not something I'll make a special effort to watch so I'm happy having a football free weekend and watching the highlights if anything interesting happens on YouTube.

At least we weren't tanked again. I know this is a somewhat limited standard to set, but it's a start.

Shit quality, but Mo Salah did this against Swaziland on Friday.

Pfft. Bryan Ruiz did it a few years ago and he was dogshite.

I did it once in five a side.

IIRC Steve Staunton did it three times in a season in the early 1990s, twice for Ireland and once for Villa.

I've scored direct from a corner five times in 11 a side games. Put me 25 yards out in the middle of the pitch and I can't hit a barn door with a banjo stuck to a cow's ass.

Pfft, I did this at least a decade ago playing in a grudge match for PC World vs Curry’s on the Norwich City FC 3G training pitches!
