Mortimer & whitehouse: Gone fishing

I think it works because Bob is an incompetant and highly excitable fisherman, clearly it's Paul's bag and the combination of his seriousness and Bobs idiocy is what does it for me.

Me and the Mrs had a conversation around Bob's dads car accident, I said that the worst thing I could see heading towards me in a similar incident would be a lorry load of corriander. That was an amazing story that is so unfathomably upsetting to have lived through, and yet you find yourself laughing like a loon at it.

So yeah, don't ruin it.

I tried to enjoy this previously, but there is something that bothers me the way Paul is towards Bob.

It's beyond that normal dry English sense of humour. Can't put my finger on it, but appears he has a short temperament.

I know what you mean, but to me that's what makes the show.  You can tell that he is genuinely slightly irritated by him at times, and it makes the warmth they show to each other the rest of the time feel more genuine, less staged.

Yeah, I'm with Ste. I just think Paul's slightly more curmudgeonly than Bob, and if there's occasionally a slight edge to his exasperation, it's obvious the rest of the time that there's genuine affection between the two.

Totally. Also, remember that when Bob was at his lowest point after having his heart surgery, it was Paul who kept asking to come out Fishing with him.

Watched the last episode last night and I'm feeling a bit bereft without the thought of seeing me best mates next Sunday.

Thought the chat with the Doc at the end was a great way to finish off the series. My wife keeps telling me to get myself a full health service as I'm now 47 and I really should get myself checked out but I keep putting it off and this year hasn't helped obviously. But having Bob tell me to do it now means I'm phoning the doctors today and getting myself booked in. Cheers Bob.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable "I've been telling you for years to get checked out and you do nothing - but once Bob Mortimer mentions it you're off there like a shot!" argument from the Mrs....
