Amazon have picked up Greg Daniels Upload, described as a sci-fi romantic satire. Stars Andy Allo and Robbie Amell.

Quote

Upload is set in a future where humans are able to 'upload' themselves into their preferred choice of afterlife. When Nathan (Amell) meets his early death, he is greeted by Nora (Allo) in his version of heaven. The series follows the two as Nathan grows accustomed to life away from his loved ones, and the alive Nora struggles to stay afloat working her job alongside Nathan in the afterlife.

Was about to start a thread on this show and was surprised there was this one from 2018(!). I'm really enjoying it, basic premise is heaven if it was run by EE or Vodafone. There'll be inevitable comparisons to The Good Place, but this leans a bit darker and more satirical.

Yeah, we've been watching it. It's a bit by-the-numbers, but it's entertaining and I want to see how it finishes. There's some properly terrible product placement in it, though.

I’m about half way through this and I’m enjoying it immensely. I suspect if it was on Netflix it would be getting more coverage but like most things on Amazon,  they have done a terrible job of promoting it.

The product placement is always part of the joke, often at the expense of the brand.  I particularly liked the Lean Cuisine testing area for the 2 giggers.

I watched this all in a couple of days and really enjoyed it. I did feel like the last 2 episodes or so were a good bit weaker, but some really good ideas as a whole.

I do fear that this could keep going and going and become a bit of a bore, but for now it's likable, enjoyable and good not too heavy entertainment.

Just finished this (watched the first episode at the start of the year, forgot about it but watched the other 9 episodes last night and tonight) and really enjoyed it. I think the first episode perhaps layered on the laughs a bit more than the rest of the series delivered, but that's okay. I liked how the actual story shifted into something quite different too. Will watch the second season a bit more promptly when it is available later in the year.

I'm surprised it got so little traction on here actually.

I watched and enjoyed it, definitely worth a go and I was pleased it managed to distance itself from the similarly themed Good Place.

Looking forward to S2, though it's been so long I can't remember what happened in the first one.

I think there was some chat about it in the Amazon Prime megathread, I loved it and thought it raised some very interesting questions.

Agree the premise/story from season 1 won't support loads of seasons unless they open out the characters and go in a different direction with all new situation, no reason that it couldn't support a quite different storyline with different characters though.

I want season 2 as well!

I actually found the last episode quite poignant when

Spoiler

Nathan's data ran out when speaking to Nora and he had a tear running down his face. Due to some personal stuff it hit me with a sense of sadness and loss and the pain of things left unresolved. It was some good TV and I just have that image of grey Nathan stuck in that pose. :(

I just hope that we get a proper ending for these characters, however it might go.

Haven’t enjoyed this series as much as the first. Didn’t like the changes to Luke’s personality, or how Nathan’s death is all a big conspiracy now.

So many inconsistencies too - Angels aren’t supposed to give out their real name but everyone knows them now. Why did Ingrid need to be in the sex suit all the time? Nobody else who visits does. The luds all being computer whiz kids made no sense.

Did enjoy AI Guy’s expanded role(s) and the Jennifer Garner Emergency Service though.

It's getting a third season. Amazon are happy with the second season. Apparently it's been in their top 10 since release.

Yes but so has Picard.

Still, I'm pleased.
