Those videos are such "magic xylophone" wank.

I had to google your reference there (surely some kind of irony itself?) and while I agree to an extent, it doesn’t negate the point.

And that’s Stark Trek’s fault - it painted itself into a corner. And then painted the corner. But that’s what is so beloved about it. One makes a Star Trek show without doing the proper due diligence at one’s peril.

Stewart should have been kept far away from the writer’s room. Brexit has basically sent him round the twist. And ruined Trek in the process.

I agree, sometimes it's lazy and sloppy writing. But some of it is just pedantry. Yeah, they didn't swear on a show you watched at teatime 35 years ago. Yeah, phasers don't literally have triggers, but making a line not sound awkward and stupid always wins. Yeah, someone writing a TV show to a deadline isn't going to check every line to make sure it doesn't contradict a throwaway 'culture shock' joke in hundreds of hours of TV/films.

If TNG treated TOS as set in stone it would have been terrible, see most of series 1. Picard and Discovery are bad but expanding that universe beyond the narrow lens of the most elite ship and crew in starfleet isn't why.
