I am watching Picard season 2 to prepare, having been put off it by you guys (I only managed 2 eps originally). 😄 I have so far watched 4 eps. And it's fine. I presume it falls off a cliff... wasn't one episode called the worst bit of Trek ever?

Anyway, I AM MASSIVELY EXCITED FOR SEASON 3!!!!

Enjoy it while it lasts (the optimism, not the show).

I have to avoid this thread once this is released.

I thought that Season 2 was absolute shlock, but really, really entertaining shlock.

So I'm up for watching S3, but it's dumbness won't make me mad, I shall revel in it!

New Trek opinion -

I enjoyed Picard S1, I enjoyed Picard S2 even though it's garbage but also great because it's so stupid and I don't know if the maker's are aware.

Discovery S1 and S2 where excellent especially S2 which was really silly, like it was written by a 16 year old. I don't care if you don't like it and yes it's really silly but so what?

Discovery S3 was boring rubbish and S4 was even worse. The Federation in the future are all arses, even David Cronenberg.

I watched Strange New Worlds straight after Discovery S4, and it took me a LONG time to warm to it because I was put off due to Dis S4. SNW is probably the best of the bunch.

Thanks everyone!

What about Lower Decks and Prodigy?

Hang of you squint and stand on your head Picard is mirroring the Old trek films :D

Picard Season 1 is a really shitty rerun of Search of Spock - Mad old man runs off on a quest based on his "dead" friend.

Picard Season 2 is a really shitty rerun of The Voyage Home although instead of Whales it is a Borg Queen and we have to give Q a hug?

So Picard Season 3 is going to be a shitty rerun of The Undiscovered Country.

ANd they aren't really skipping Star Trek 5 because they are paying it homage to it by making these reruns really shitty* :D

*Actually i have a soft spot for Star Trek 5 and it better than all of Picard and Disco

Star Trek V is better than any of the TNG films as well. What it gets right, some of the character moments, it gets very right. It's a shame that it didn't have the budget, or protection from the worst excesses of Shatner's ego, that could've made it a genuinely good film.

It’s literally the only film I have fallen asleep watching. I wasn’t even tired when I put it on. I was about 15 years old and it was like 8pm. I would rather watch Insurrection and Nemesis again back to back.

Well that wasn’t terrible.

Remember how S2e1 seemed to ignore everything that went before and whilst it wasn’t good you felt hopefully as it wasn’t bad and was divorced from what vane before? It’s that all over again.

Just remember the thread title

Watched as far as the opening sting. It's amazing how within 120 seconds they can absolutely, nail a perfect example about how they (and I suspect specifically led by Stewart) have no idea at all about what the magic of the show actually was.

End titles were great.

Were they?

Spoiler

Let's pull on the nostalgia strings for the end credits. What do you think, the TNG theme?

Nah, people like First Contact. Use the theme from that.

Why not both?

They're very different. You can't really segue from one to the other.

Oh, nobody will notice.

The episode was okay, but other than being more visibly "Star Trek" I still thought it missed the mark.

Spoiler

What was with Captain Arsehole being a dick for no reason? He seemed very cross about how irresponsible Picard had been as a Captain.

Yes.

The Titan-A bothered me for nerdier reasons. It's somehow both "the new refit" and Riker's old ship, despite being a different class altogether and being an "A". Surely it's just a refit of some other ship they renamed?

Crusher was being very un-Crusher like, opening with a full on action shootout instead of, I don't know, commanding a medical Starship like she did in the alternate future.

Raffi's bits were bloody awful.

I did appreciate the general look and feel of it though. It seemed to be riffing more on the TOS movies than TNG, and that was refreshing.
