That looks absolutely dreadful. It's going to be a whole series of Mirror Universe rubbish, isn't it?

Not at all. It's clear from the trailer that : (spoilered for anyone not looking at the trailer)

Spoiler

They will start in the mirror universe, that isn't quite the mirror universe, but still got sexy leather Hugo Boss on. Then, in a surprise twist no one could see coming, unless you saw the trailer or have half a brain, they end up in the modern day to fix it. Via SHOCK TWIST YOU CAN'T AVOID SPOILERS FOR... THE BORG!!! They just need to stop George and Gracie being assassinated by rogue...

It's a toss up which franchise fucked the whole thing more, Star wars or Trek?

At least Star wars has the Mandalorian I suppose.

It's not a toss up, it's Star Trek and it's not even close and it's terrifying.

I caught some of the notorious Star Trek V on Film 4 earlier, and honestly I’d rather have watched the rest of that than any modern Trek. At least that film gets the “heart” of Trek right, despite being a horribly misguided Shatner vanity project.

I'm really looking forward to their heavy handed discussion of the politics/culture war of the early 21st Century... Probably the whole season will be about that. Yay.

Who knows, maybe Picard will prevent World War 3 and the 'post atomic horror' that was supposed to happen in our time period (according to encounter at farpoint).

According to canon, the Eugenics Wars which had augmented humans like Khan ruling regions of Earth occurred in the 1990s. I doubt the Picard writers even know.

It looks like alternate realities are the new big thing in sci-fi, this appears to be Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home meets the multiverse.

If they don't look for nuclear wessels and save a whale at the end, I'll be disappointed.

I thought Q and Guinan were great, sadly it is Picard who is letting the side down.  I really think Stewart at 82 is just too old to pull it off any more.

Certainly he can't pull off "MoviePicard" which he who this seems based on. A nice slow character piece and he'd be ok

hmm the only way this will work is if Picard goes back to 2024 and kills Burnham's ancestors causing Discovery to disappear from every timeline.

and pop a note into the chateau warning Renee to check the fire/smoke detectors more often.
