really enjoying this on PS4, it feels a really good iteration of the game.

 

dunno if its a weird bug but it just won't save my controller settings, as a old time PES player I have to go alternate controls but it forgets that every time and also that I like the trainer turned off, I've got a profile, its saved and it remembers the camera settings, just won't save the controller. 

 

any ideas ?

Any chance you are saving the changes under temporary configuration rather than one of the custom settings slots?

I honestly don't know the difference, I just go into the main settings menu on the main screens and change, play a game fine, turn off the console and when I come back its forgotten the controller settings, but not the camera !

When you change the controller settings and it asks you to save them make sure you assign the changes to one of the custom slots that should appear.

 

Only other thing I can think of would be it not loading your profile or something, but if it is retaining camera changes you have made then doesn’t sound like it’s that.

Yeah this is definitely a bug. My trainer stuff re-appeared last night even though nothing had changed, it happened to a couple of us. 

 

Incidentally, I recommend everyone keeps their trainer "ON" but disable the prompts so basically it just shows the arrow and timing bar. The arrow is particularly useful for the new goal kicks as it's the only way to orient yourself given the static camera change.

Couple of early goes so far, the game feels a lot more 'free' than before, the ball is less laser guided and you seem more likely to knock a ball into touch if you're trying to play fancier than your talent dictates. Never had this happen before either:

thanks, what I did learn after a lot of looking is you can only get the detailed trainer options up about what to show in game, not in the main menu

Nah in all seriousness the game has started to really click with me, towards the end last night and the few games I've played today :)

 

I don't think there were any frustrating moments really last night like fifa 18

Out the blocks, I think this is as good as any FIFA (cue the "you can't judge it after a week" mob). I barely play competitive stuff anymore but even narrow defeats and hard fought draws against AI are pretty decent compared to the previous possession drivel. It's a solid package all round but I've yet to fully invest in all the new intricacies like I would have in the past; I barely played the demo but even though I've almost had it a week, I've only played a dozen games on Clubs.

I think first touches are more important than ever.

 

A stray pass leads to clumsy first touches which leads to instant pressure on the ball. It wasn't so bad on the previous games but the tolerance isn't as soft on this one. Not holding sprint all of the time, facing the right direction and judging the power is even more important now.

There is a 2v2 mode where you choose a real team and play other teams online.

 

And a 'Clubs' mode (Can also be played with 2 but its the only option for 3+) where you have to create a player and play in one specific position. One player can take up the role of the rest of the team, whilst the other play there positions.

 

I dont think there is an option to play against AI as a 2 unless you are sharing a console.

I'm going to buy it because I need a comfort game on the PS4 I can go back to when I am not playing anything else.

I was going to buy the Standard Edition but what is the legacy edition?

 

Edit - Legacy Edition is for PS3 only.

I've purchased the Standard Edition.

I've not played a PES game since the SNES days.

Happy with Fifa, started playing FUT with the Squad Battles & Squad Building Challenges both of which are new to me. Last Fifa I played was 16.

 

Managed to get Gold 1 rank & got 11K plus Schmeichel, Lingard & Vardy from pack openings.

The Web App/ iOS App is locked out to me on transfers at the moment. Guess I need to play more for it to unlock?

Will then take a look at what I can buy & flip for money, I need to create that Liverpool squad.

The current sales meant I picked up a FIFA game for the first time since 2003 on the Gamecube. The first thing you notice is how amazing the presentation is, PES has always been barebones but the leap in quality really is something and it's nice to have the real stadiums again. However for me the player models don't look as good and even the player kits don't seem to have as much detail but that may just be because PESUniverse does such a good job with their patches. I'm strictly single player only so completely ignoring FUT and I am currently playing a full PL season with Liverpool on what I think is the medium difficulty. So first impressions are that the goalkeepers aren't quite as good as PES when shots are from close range they will dive from a standing position instead of moving their feet first which looks odd to me. I'm still struggling with corners which are headed away easily enough by the AI which is also a lot cleaner than PES who will happily foul you if they have to. Still whole summer to play it so I'm sure I'll get used to as I adjust to playing my first non PES football game for years.
