Another comics artist, Carlos Pacheco. Only 59! :(

I saw the other day that he had stopped working due to having ALS, but can't seem to find anything about his passing anywhere.

Shocked, no comic news sites are covering it.

The tweet that Mark Millar quoted has been deleted, so hopefully it'll turn out to be inaccurate.

EDIT: See my edited post above.

However the Spanish newspaper El Pais has corroborated it (listing his age as 60): Google translation says "sources from the cartoonist's family have confirmed to this newspaper."

And now Nik Turner from Hawkwind.

Genuinely gutted at this one as Hawkwind are one of my favourite bands and a huge influence on me. Seen them live with and without Nik probably around 30 times as well as his solo stuff and with Space Ritual and The Hawklords

What the fuck! Twitter is a self destructing minefield and it’s hard to get a clear picture, but it seems legit. :(

Speaking of, he’s on Twitter everyday and always a welcomed note of sense in the timeline.

Variety has an article about it now. Short battle with cancer.

That's a big one. I'm a fairweather Hawkwind fan, only seen them once and I have 3 or 4 records, but they deserve all the props they get. Proper counter culture. I love how they seemingly existed in a parallel universe to the usual story of Rock that everyone knows. Never looking to compete with Pink Floyd or whoever. Proto punks, really, but with proper psychedelic music.

Oh man, Nik Turner. Years and years ago Space Ritual played a mate's birthday celebration and I was just so stupidly happy to meet him. All my memories of the gig are just flashes of colour and noise and joy.

I doubt Hawkwind will ever get the recognition they truly deserve, but all the best people know.

Stephen Morris from Joy Division/New Order once said “I think punk rock started because in every small town there was somebody who liked Hawkwind.” :)

Yeah, I met him at one of the Brixton all nighters. I was in no state to take photos though lol

Last time Space Ritual played Glasgow my mate got to interview him

Spoiler

If you know, you know ;)
