In the early days of reality TV Paul O'Grady as Lily Savage presented a BBC2 show called 'Life Swaps' which was absolutely incredible and should be repeated.

RIP.

I thought that this morning when his friendship with Cilla Black was mentioned.

My younger brother had major spinal surgery when he was about 10 years old and Surprise Surprise did a visit to the children’s hospital.

I remember asking my brother what it was like meeting Cilla and his face turned to thunder as he replied “She wasn’t very nice AT ALL!”

Apparently, as soon as the cameras were off, she disappeared. Christopher Biggins spent ages afterwards chatting to all the kids. My brother’s 10-year-old indignation still makes me chuckle to this day.

I remember the first time I saw him as Lily Savage was on Eurotrash in the early 90's. After that he/she seemed to be everywhere. I liked his tea time show on ITV around 2005/2006 or so. He was very warm and funny and had a great rapport with his guests.

I never liked Cilla. She always seemed false. Krusty incarnate. The Biggins is a legend though.

It's rare I give much of a thought when I hear a celebrity has passed, but hearing that Paul O'Grady has died has really touched me this morning.

I can't honestly remember much of his earlier career, but man that guy loved dogs. And that in my opinion is a real indicator that he was one of the good guys.

I used to love his tea time show. His little asides to the camera man (Was it Malcolm?) were brilliant. And when he would randomly go off on one and start singing show tunes and stuff. Clearly absolutely bonkers but a natural entertainer who gave no fucks.

I am, to put it mildly, a bit upset. First Yukihiro Takahashi and now Sakamoto in the same year.

I could probably post a thousand videos but I'll just recommend this French documentary. It's an hour of wonderful sounds and footage of Tokyo in 1984.

They've disclosed Reddick's cause of death as Ischemic Heart Disease and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease. Or basically hardening and narrowing of the arteries from plaque build up.

And now the family are disputing this. They say it wasn't determined by autopsy and is inconsistent with his lifestyle, which I did wonder about. He did put effort into staying fit and healthy.
