Taskmaster

The first half of the episode was very sedate - I thought the wrapping yourself up in clingfilm and masking tape was a strong intro, but the actual task was a bit of an anticlimax. Even wrapped up like that, it didn't seem very difficult to get to the hat. I would have thought they could have come up with something funnier to do afterwards.

Still, the last two tasks were amazing. My partner was nearly sick when Jamali sucked up that hexagonal jelly to transport it to the next bit of the table.

I find Jamali hilarious. I like that he doesn't partake in all the knowingly hurdy-wordy-gurdy abstract weirdness of it and just acts how a normal person would if asked to be on this show. I think it plays into the desire I have for unfiltered regular people to be dropped into performative lifestyle formats. Like asking a couple of hairy arsed builders to critique a bloke's new makeover suit instead of Gok Wan for instance. He's still playing a character, but if everyone throws themselves into it then it becomes exhausting.

Just caught up, that feel the sides challenge with all the licking, sucks and salava...dear God

I loved how Jamali nailed the cling film wrap but the follow up task was lame, especially when he only managed to win it by 1 second. Made it seem a little redundant.

"It's an absolute casserole down there".

Ruined me. Absolutely ruined me.

Me too. I was helpless for a good couple of minutes. I'm still sniggering while I type this, with tears in my eyes. I need to watch it again to see what I missed.

Jamali was a star. One of the few times I think one of the artworks created was genuinely good - even if it looked nothing like Greg. I think I'd happily have that on my wall. But the battered task was aced too, and then just kicking the shit out of the final task had me laughing my head off too. Great stuff!

That was the strongest episode of the series, by a country mile. Wosniak's epic task, Jamali and the wallet etc. just wonderful.

I really like Jamali; his series 'Hate Thy Neighbour' is super, especially the episode when he spends time with the EDL. I think his agent provocateur schtick in that, gives you an insight into how he comes across on TM.

I'll never look at a casserole the same way. What a turn of phrase that was.

It was the title of the episode. A strange phrase, I thought at the time, but by the time it was put into context I'd forgotten all about that. It's honestly going to take something special to top that. It's the way his delivery was so subdued - so matter-of-fact - it just made it. The fact that it broke everyone in the studio probably helped break everyone at home too. One of those clips I'm just going to revisit again and again, I think.

Finally caught up to this week's. Fucking brilliant stuff.  This is by far the best series for years, no annoying contestants and the tasks on the whole seem a step up vs the last couple of series.

What's the score re Wozniak? I've never heard of him before, is he essentially 'in character' on the show? Greg implied he's acting/looking different to how he normally knows him, I wasn't sure if he meant that literally.

I think I coughed up a lung with the last episode. Absolute classic!

I was watching, enjoying it but thinking it's not coughing up a lung funny. Then it happened.

I agree with everyone else, Wozniak has made this series a classic.

Mike Wozniak's St Elwick's Neighbourhood Association Newsletter Podcast is really great as well. He plays a slightly more inept version of the same character in that.

Agreed. Been listening to it for the last few weeks and it’s genuinely excellent. A few episodes have had me in bursts of laughter whilst out walking. And it’s fun spotting the other taskmaster contestants over the years as guest characters on it.

The natterjack toad saga has had me in tears at least twice.
