Google Stadia - “being buried in a deep hole next to Google Circles and the rest”

If you can get stadia cheap I'd absolutely recommend it. The technology is truly fantastic, and the controller is first class. I mainly play on xbox and switch but play stadia when the odd Pro game interests me and when they have decent sale offers on other games. Would I have it as my main console, no, but its worth a go.

The only thing letting it down is pricing, pro should be cheaper for what it offers, and games should be cheaper. There are one or two exclusives worth playing but it needs more which makes the decision to scrap first party games so puzzling.

Yeah I’d agree with all of this - I am extremely casual these days so I’m either playing games on this or Switch, if you want to play games all the time it probably doesn’t make sense, but for the games I do play on it it’s indistinguishable 99.9% of the time from a console that would sit in my lounge. Although I pay for Pro, so I don’t know how it would look at a lower res.

There are loads of Pro games I’ve not even opened and loads I’ve loved but it’s not a selection that anyone who is used to something like Game Pass is going to be impressed by.

@bradigor@Hamus I’ve just spent an hour on chat jumping through their hoops to no avail even charged my card and had to cancel

the solution appears to be

1.follow the link then delete the stadia premier .

2.manually search for premier and add to basket

3.it then should show discount £-69.99 and zero postage

4. If I does confirm and get your free stadia

5. She had me clearing cache history etc and it did nothing until I did the manual delete and add so maybe you will need to do that .

hope it helps

That worked thanks

Apparently the latest version of Edge on Xbox supports stadia - I ran out of HDMI slots so pulled the Chromecast and Stadia from the TV.

Any reason it'll be hobbled using it via a console this way, I'd have thought a browser is a browser and your connection is the limiting factor ?

there’s zero benefit to stadia in hobbling it; I suppose Microsoft could hobble it, but not unless stadia is cheaper etc. given that any user will already have bought an Xbox, and probably a series console.

Got this set up today and gave it a quick go works really well without 600mb internet connection. Looking forward to giving it more of ago when my vision comes back in properly but like seems minimal so far according to my son so that's all good

Are you using the Stadia pad or the XBox pad?

The input latency would be better with the stadia pad but otherwise I don’t see why you’d get any difference.

I posted about Stadia on the Xbox in the Xbox thread.

It works but for some reason my Xbox pad was trying to switch back to mouse mode when I pressed the B button so things were a little screwy. It seemed to work fine when I switched to using a Stadia pad.

I had a game on Steamworld Quest, which is nice, but then I started playing Steamworld Heist and now I’m totally addicted to it. What is it about these games? They’re all different but really suck you in.

It’s interesting, I would never have bought any of them but I give them a go as they are in the Pro bundle and love them.

Cool, is it any good?

Human Fall Flat is going to be leaving Pro if anyone hasn’t claimed it. I found it to be a lot of fun, but then I got stuck somewhere and didn’t go back to it. It’s a physics puzzler sort of thing.

It's brilliant, one of my favourite games of the last few years. A combination of brutalist architecture and bureaucratic weirdness, with very satisfying combat and some funny dialogue.

I think it already left at the end of September.

Based on something I read elsewhere, I wonder if the real initial market for this sort of streaming service is in the developing world, in places like Brazil/India, where the upfront cost for a new console is prohibitively expensive for many and they already have good online infrastructure.

I imagine publishers would be a lot more flexible about pricing and offerings in those markets if it provided the opportunity for revenue growth without undermining their current models elsewhere.

Up front costs for consoles are expensive but they all have ultrafast internet and live near a server farm?

Doesn't sound like a gigantic market.

Yes? Aren’t Brazil and India both well-known for having densely populated cities along with widely available super-cheap super-fast broadband? Plus 5G is up-and-coming too which would be ideal for streaming services.

Control is great, definitely worth a go especially seeing as AAA is a bit lean pickings on Stadia right now

I think it’s safe to say I’m loving this, it hasn’t put a foot wrong. I find myself reading every collectible, which is very rare, but they are all so interesting.
