The Mandalorian

I wonder if there's any chance of seeing the introduction of Sabine (from Rebels) in this series. It would make sense for her to being doing Mandalorian stuff at this point and she'll be a key character in the Ahsoka series later this year. They've got plenty of form in terms of introducing characters for other shows as part of Mando's story.

I really hope not, they need to stop giving him second (third) billing in his own show.

The Boba Fett hijack in S2 was disgraceful, even chucking out his ship to make way for Fett’s.

TBH the trailers made me think this would be the case just because the mando clans seemed a lot more vibrantly coloured than I remembered, but by the looks of ep1 they were just random Watch folk.

The plot felt like a shit RPG. Go here to be told we gotta go to the next dungeon but first we gotta back to the hub world to get a party member but he needs a mcguffin so we gotta go get that but instead I'll go see what Bo Katarn Ulfrik Stormcloak is up to. They even had Starbuck sitting like him.

Aside from that I still liked it

Star Wars* and Dave Filoni's name was nowhere to be seen.

Put your glasses on mate. His name was literally directly under Favreau's on the executive producer page (them being the only 2).

I liked how old fashioned adventure of the week the first series was. Generally having a satisfying largely self contained story with a bit or the larger story wove in. I worry that this will completely go down the 12 hour movie look at all the corporate synergy route. It was creeping into season 2.

Speaking of Game of Thrones. I never posted in the reaction videos thread but one channel I’m still subscribed to from those days is SeanTanktop aka the Boston bar people.

First thing I thought when I saw him was “Why is the space pirate captain Old Gregg?!!”

Good to have Mando back, though I also felt it wasn’t a particularly great episode. I know the whole “small universe” thing has been gone over before, but first episode and straight back to Ersatz Tattooine to rebuild a dead droid? As mentioned, it diminishes that character’s sacrifice in season 1.

Oh well, I imagine it will pick up in subsequent eps. And I don’t want to nitpick, I still enjoyed it a lot and Mando’s back baby!!

That was a pretty lore and story heavy episode and I loved it.

Spoiler

Easy to see where its going now this season although that was obvious after season 2, looks like we're about to have our Mand'alor.

Well that was MUCH better than last week. However:

Spoiler

I think The Mandalorian in the title only really applied to Bo Katan, as Mando got his ass handed to him throughout the entire episode and she had to pick up after him repeatedly

Not to mention she looks a damn sight better holding that Darksaber... I mean obviously she'll end up with it at some point.

Also: so all of that IG droid nonsense was completely pointless after all!

I feel like the visit to Bo at the end of last week was probably meant to be after the final bit of Droid business in this one? Probably swapped? It would’ve wrapped up the last one better and set up this one better. Odd choice.

Otherwise this was a really tidy little adventure with some really strong Empire vibes, all weird stuff and peril. And I take back what I said about the HDR, this was astonishing in its contrast and colour.

Spoiler

Morlocks!

Fantastic episode!

Was that a mythosaur Bo saw underwater? That plus her wielding the darksaber like an absolute pro is very foreshadowing!

Yeah it was.

It really was a genuine relief that the Book of Bob A. energy seemed to dissipate after the last episode and we got something that actually went somewhere and was interesting.

Spoiler

Though I did find it kind of hilarious that they got to use each of those rendered magic scenes twice, with Mando and then Bo each walking through them. Pads out that running time with your budget I guess

I think Andor’s spoiled me. I know this is completely different, and I know it’s clearly good at what it’s doing, but I’m just not feeling it yet this series.

Really really liked the baddy design in this episode. Very creepy. And it all looked ace.

Watched it on our 4K projector and it looked spectacular. But also being able to see every tiny hair on Baby Yoda’s sweet little head.

They’ve somehow upped his cuteness too. And the puppetry is stunning tbh.

I know what you mean. It feels like a series of unrelated scenes. Not feeling this at all.

Episode 2 was shite, lads. My Spidey sense for detecting pending mediocrity is firing off like it did for BOBF.

I'm now even more confident that this is now exclusively Favreau's baby, with Filoni being elsewhere. I wonder if Filoni will get to write or direct any of season 3?

did Mando

  Reveal hidden contents

just step off an underwater ledge and sink due to his heavy-assed armour, or did something grab him?

I found that confusing, as your first thought doesn't make sense given the geography shown when

Spoiler

Starbuck jumps in.

But then what grabbed him only to just dump him? Could be the mythical whatsit, but why not just pop up and say hi!
