It's somewhat bemusing

Spoiler

Just how shit those pirates were. And the fact they were created for the sole purpose of being baddies that would get the Mandos from A to B

How many inhabitants are there on Navaro? It looked like Carl Weathers led less than 100 people out of the city when the Pirates started bombing the place. Are we supposed to think it's that small, I expected a lot more.

The others were hiding round the corner.

That's what I meant by frustratingly slapdash - some of the effects shots in this episode were fantastic, but the "crowd" scenes were like something from Neighbours. Just like the Mando beach ISIS training camp the other week. They can spend all that money on CG but apparently that means there's none left to employ a decent number of extras.

Even if there was a bigger crowd, that doesn’t seem like a lot of people for a whole planet. If one pirate can just pop down and take over the whole thing then maybe it’s not such a great planet.

People are still in the city serving drinks to space pirates.

And not everyone would have followed Carl Weathers, they would have dispersed to other areas.

But anyway the more you get bogged down in real world logistics the less fun Star Wars is.

This was a great episode of TV. Loved how all the threads came together and then how a new mystery was revealed at the end.

I dunno. All starting to feel like the main story is a bit pointless.

Spoiler

I kept watching it when she was becoming the super hero of the Mandorlian's and thinking... hang on didn't he find Excalibur and really find that underwater slug first, why isn't he the new hero of their people? Why isn't the series making Mando out to be something special, it's almost like he's starting to feel like a background character in his own story.

Yeah, it's got to be a bit careful not to Book of Boba Fett Din.

Might need to put that in spoilers. But the point is all this big stuff keeps happening to other people with him floating around the edges, its just so odd. What's the point in it? What's the goal of the series after 3 seasons in for him. He's a baby sitter.

Perhaps a reluctant leader who discovers himself as the show goes on. I'm not a writer but this all feels a bit pointless.

I didn't fall asleep during that exposition - the pirates were just quite shit and nothing felt particularly organic even with the background events going on..

Spoiler

I also very much found myself thinking that a single flight of maybe 3 x-wings could have fucked up that ship in minutes (groundside cleanup would be a different matter mind you), but as others have said I think that just underscores the point they were making.

Also in previous episodes I always took Nabarro as similar to the other fringe feudal-level places we see in SW. Few thousand people at most? Obviously they didnt have that many extras so I guess we just have to assume they mostly ran off in different directions. *shrug*

And Mando might have excalibur but he cant even swing it without falling over, or even nearly chopping his own leg off, so....

That's why it's all so weird. He found the dark saber and went through all that stuff with not being able to use it (as it was getting heavier to handle etc), needing to go on a quest to redeem himself in Mandalore and being the first to meet that beast, doesn't matter if he fell face first he still made it 🤣 But didn't really need to be there for any of it.

Part of me wanted him to go off and explore the rest of that story as it might be pretty interesting trying to reunite them all alongside that Bo-Katan with him reclaiming the use of the sabre and becoming the leader. Might be more interesting story than him just babysitting Grogu.

The way the ship was scanned at the end felt like a homage to the start of Aliens to me.. or am I going mad?

Nah, I got that too. The whole scene had a bit of Aliens to it.

Me neither. To be honest, personally, I don't really want him to be in the spotlight as a major player. I'd rather he be some sort of Star Wars version of Mr Inbetween.

Well I thought that was great, you bunch of sad-sacks!

Don't spoil the hate in now Sir.

I think it's still great pulpy scifi and decent sat night telly. With a staggering budget and visuals most of the time.
