Still looking for investment 🤔

This is exactly what the world needs right now.

Well, not this world, obviously.  We're sorted with the Switch.  But the world in the alternate reality where Nintendo doesn't exist really need the Amico right now to bring family friendly games back to the living room.

I found out about and started following this last spring. It's such a disaster and somehow manages to keep getting worse.

Unbelievably the RRP is going to increase from the current $249, to possibly up to $349.

We're not at Vega Plus levels yet, but it's clearly going to be in the running. Unbeleivable!

I think it's gone past it now:

The Intellivision Amico's wild ride as a possible video game console may soon come to an end, according to financial disclosures tucked into the company's most recent fundraising announcement.

On Monday, Intellivision Entertainment Inc. began its fourth round of public prelaunch fundraising in less than four years. The fundraising campaign, which aspires to raise $5 million, includes an SEC filing that contains page after page of "risk factors" for the company going forward. While such disclosures tend to include broad statements of potential risk factors to cover all foreseeable catastrophes, Intellivision's filing goes into brutal specifics about the company's current debt—and suggests a clear timeline for the game console's potential dissolution.

In particular, the company tells investors that it has "generated no revenues" since its formation in 2018, and its handlers predict Intellivision can only operate until July of this year at its current zero-revenue pace before needing to drastically change course.

We are certainly in the same territory. I've yet to see anything which rivals court appearances being missed because the owner says trolls could be waiting in the bushes to "cut his dick off" and the big launch consisting of borderline non-functional manufacturing samples being sent out in black boxes (advertised as "special eco packaging") to a handful of backers!

What's happening with Intellivision is nuts but I don't think we've had our full Spinal Tap moment yet!

Haven't you got one pre-ordered?

When they did a full reveal last year I was very much swayed in favour of it, much to my own surprise. But no, I'd not preordered. Mainly because I had alreayd pre-ordered a Switch OLED, an Evercade VS, a Steam Deck and a Playdate at that point though, rather than concerns over it actually being released.

Are the games they are already selling going to be one of those mad 'go up in value' things do we think.....should we be buying them as an investment...but then, that's giving them money which just feels wrong.

The article i looked at yesterday said that the 'physical' games were just a QR code in a box that at some point in the future pointed you to a download site so nothing really to them.  Think you got a coin and an NFT too but whether any of this would have any value after the whole thing goes pop would seem to be pretty unlikely.  I doubt there is much long term appeal in them.

  • 1 month later...

The console itself looks like it should have my feet on it and give them a gentle massage.

Does it do that?

Because if it did, whilst I was playing games then that would be pretty sweet.

That looks weak. In the footage from that cornhole game, one of the guys is holding the controller two handed and it looks so much like when you were having trouble with the motion tracking on wii before even the plus remotes.

And tbf, I almost expected an almost 100 in 1 type thing if they all look like they do.
