The 3 episode arcs are a bit f'ed up now right?

  Hide contents

Episodes 1-3 Leaving Ferrix arc

Episodes 4-6 The Heist arc

Episodes 7 Stand alone return to Ferrix

Episodes 8-10 Prison arc?

Episodes 11-12 AMAZING SEASON FINALE!!!!111SYRILGETSDATASS!!!

11 & 12 are directed by the same person as episode 7, so it's possible it could be seen as a three episode arc, rudely interrupted by a lengthy stay in prison.  However, 11 & 12 are written by Tony Gilroy himself, whose only other episodes so far were 1-3, and 7 was written by someone else, so my bet would actually be it'll be taking us full circle and closing out the Ferrix story with an uprising of sorts there.

Nah, Ferrix is going to get flattened, crushed and completely subjugated. It'll end on that jumped-up incel twat confused why he's being made to suffer too. It's only going to get darker to make Andor who he becomes.

On that note, I've been having some mental health bother and I really shouldn't be watching this. Episode 8 nearly broke me. But it's too good and I can't help myself.

(weirdly I felt even more sad and trapped by that short Jedi series)

Syril? He’s not from Ferrix is he? I think he’s living with his mum on Coruscant now.

I’m guessing whatever ends up happening to Andor’s mum will be what fully radicalises him.

Oh, I'm getting mixed up as I thought that intelligence woman was flitting back and forth.

Oh I didn't mean I thought the uprising would go well for the uprisers, just that there would be one.

Any 'happiness' in the season's ending will be that Cassian escapes, likely saving Bix Caleen in the process, escaping to the rebellion to exact his revenge.

Well Episode 9 was grim. It seems that we've spent forever in the prison without a huge lot of point.

Sure be slow and all, and don't make it too star wars, but have some star wars.

It was an unsettling, sometimes nasty, episode that feels like it's getting near some kind of director-led snuff porn.

I remember thinking during Star Wars: The Last Jedi, when the harsh truths of the military-industrial complex are explained to Finn by Benicio del Toro's arms dealer character, that something had been allowed into Star Wars that was going to change things going forward. This series isn't just peaking through that crack in the door, the door is now completely off the hinges.

Spoiler

There is a torture device that plays the children's death screams of an alien race, that have been isolated and modified for maximum effect - in Star Wars. It's one of the darkest things I've come across in sci-fi and its in Star Wars. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's truly horrible of course, but I guess its inclusion excites me too because if this thing can exist then pretty much anything could happen now. I genuinely have no idea where things are going, but if they introduce some hope it's likely to break me like the end of The Shawshank Redemption.

New directors for S2:

Quote

In a conversation with Collider, showrunner Tony Gilroy revealed that the continuation of Andor’s Star Wars story has added three directors to focus on the events that precede Rogue One. The second season will be broken up into episode arcs, he confirmed, adding that duties will be split among Giving Ariel Kleiman (Yellowjackets), Janus Metz (All the Old Knives), and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Outer Range).

Not seen any of those shows; any thoughts?

This feels like a massive overreaction. It's nowhere near snuff porn is it? We've not even seen any graphic injury? It is supposed to be grim and nasty. We are seeing what the Empire is really like. Don't worry - we know they eventually get their comeuppance.

Yeah it’s oppressive because it should be oppressive, otherwise what would be the point of a rebellion, and just how far would these oppressive powers go to quell that rebellion?

It is scarily prescient and really taps into the anxiety that I feel from day to day just looking at what is going on in the world around me.

His Mum deserves more love. Her volte-face when he announces his promotion was wonderful.

It’s one of the reasons why this is so great, even marginal supporting roles seem to be played by excellent actors, and his mom is one of the best examples.

The prison is such a treat for this too.

I reiterate that this has been the best TV surprise I've had for years. It's absolutely thoroughly marvellous and unlike almost every other TV show I've watched recently has got better with each episode.

I still don't think it feels especially Star Wars but I think that's just a fault in the way I think of it these days. It's strong enough that it has not mattered one bit to me at all. The story is extremely well done and I'm genuinely pleased to have given it a chance. It's a pity they can't now do Rogue One as a new series of this to be honest - I've always thought the film was just too filled with characters and as a result no-one got their chance to shine - especially as the thing seemed to be in such a rush to give 'fans' lots of cute throwbacks to the universe.

But this is great. Absolutely great.

I know this is “dark” Star Wars but scenes of Syril forcing down endless bowls of space cereal in his mum’s kitchen is hilarious.

She looks like she belongs in the Black Lodge.
