That tells you nothing either way. If the Switch version is coming out later and it will be revealed later, any collector's editions will be revealed alongside that announcement.

The Switch version is supposed to be day & date with the others although there are rumours it's been delayed.

Hopefully the reduction in geometry means they're able to keep the gameplay on Switch at a solid 60fps. The Fatal Blows and Fatalities would still be 30fps obviously but that's no big issue since you're not in control during those anyway.

I'll definitely be getting it on PS4 rather than Switch; fighting games for me are mostly pointless unless I'm playing against other people and the Switch's WiFi is terrible. Mortal Kombat always has a wealth of great single player stuff. Folk who prefer that side of things out to be well catered for on Switch, splitting folk in half while lying in bed.

It’s only on going back and watching an LP of it that I realised MK 9’s story mode is so far and away ahead of every other fighter’s story mode efforts that it’s almost unbelievable. Condensing MK 1-3 into one insane, time-skewed saga following on from Armageddon’s bummer of an ending and Raiden’s hilarious cock ups in trying to prevent it makes for a delightfully weird and entertaining story. Truth be told, I was too consumed by rage at Shao Kahn’s megacheapsuperbastard final boss routine to properly appreciate it.

MK 10’s was okay and I actually liked Kotal Kahn and the Kombat Kids but there was too much Special Forces stuff, Shinnok will forever be the lamest badguy in the series, and I didn’t like how things panned out with D’Vorah. Still, you have to admire it’s straight up craziness, an Earth where everyone knows there are other dimensions chock full of Elder Gods and mad warlords and scary revenants and refugees from these places turn up like they’re from just down the road.

Meanwhile, nothing remotely new or interesting has happened to Ryu and chums in 30 years.

Is there somewhere that sums up the MK plot(s)?

Tempted to run through the story modes of both 9 and 10 to try to catch up...

Is it worth picking up MKX for the story mode btw?

Wait for XL to go on sale.

Not worth it for the story mode alone but it's a good package.

One thing that is noticeable looking back at IX and X is how ludicrous the proportions of the female characters are in IX. It's clearly something they moved away from in X so it's funny to see gobshites getting so upset about Jade being made less of a fuckdoll when the big shift has already happened. Creepy weirdos.

funny how back in the day this series was beyond inferior to Street Fighter 2 and all it's guises.

Comparing this to SFV it couldn't be a bigger turnaround for me.

What are you basing this on? The shiny graphics? The animations look as stiff as ever to me.
