What are you playing Christmas Day?

I think Videogames and Christmas will always go hand-in-hand for most of us here and are firmly part of the tradition.

So what are you hoping to play this year? Have you asked for something from Santa? Playing with the whole family or checking your usual games for Christmas-themed content? Are you one of those people that dust off Christmas Nights Into Dreams yet another year while the family look on confused and bored?

My partner has a few shifts at work on Christmas Day and we are out at the Chinese for dinner, but in between I think me and the boy will play some Smash Ultimate and sprinkle in some Rocket League. Then when Lo is back from work we can play one of the FMV games I have been saving. We enjoy those.

My son gets the TV on Christmas Day because I am cooking. But he is getting Mario Party and Smash Bros Ultimate, so I imagine that I will be playing one of these with the wife and son in place of the more traditional Festivus Feats of Strength.

Then in the evening, assuming that I am not sitting riveted to Mrs Brown's Boys (I will not be) I will be playing whatever I was given by the wife and son. I have suggested God of War or Spiderman.

I always try and keep a few trophies in my favourite games of the moment for the big days in winter (my birthday, xmas, hogmanay) so I can look back at my gaming history of each year and feel all nice about it. This year I'm expecting that will be Astro Bot - I'm carefully rationing my play time of that so it lasts for the holidays, with luck I'll land the platinum on the 31st. Probably a bit of Tetris Effect also, however I'm already at my limit of achievable trophies in that I think.

I will also be enjoying the xmas mood music in Gran Turismo Sport.

Well, I was planning on buying AC Odyssey in the 12 days of Christmas sale, just like Origins last year. But the PSN store had Odyssey on the Black Friday sale for the same price, so I've already rinsed the game.

Definitely some Destiny 2, and likely some Elite: Dangerous. There's a big update out for ED today, but Destiny takes priority while there's a new raid on the go.  But as got a new game, I quite fancy Hitman 2.

No clue. Maybe Spider-Man if it hits the 20 quid mark.

I think £30 may be your best hope until Spring, I'd say.

My mother in law wanted to know what to get me for Christmas and my partner suggested getting something for my newly bought Xbox One and asked if there was anything I wanted. So not wanting to be cheeky and ask for anything expensive I thought Assassin's Creed Origins would be a good winter game to get sunk in to and probably easy enough to get hold of cheap. Then we had a bit of a laugh about how the name sounds like Assassin's Creed Oranges.

A few days later my partner jokes that she told her mum I wanted "Call Of Duty: Orange". Then she said, in all seriousness, "don't worry, I told her you wanted Final Fantasy Origins".

So I could be playing just about anything.

First christmas doing dinner so in the morning I intend to put the switch on the lounge TV (so pokemon or titan quest or similar unless I treat myself to something new between now and then) and chill waiting for my wife to tell me what she needs me to do to contribute (Never done a roast dinner before).

The youngest is getting BOTW for his Switch so I’d imagine I’ll be able to ‘help him out’ for an hour or two. Doubt I’ll get time to play much or that I’ll receive any games but will probably get the family on Mario Kart, the Jackbox games or Exploding Kittens.
