What are you playing Christmas Day?

I'll probably do the same thing I've done for a while - slam in some Christmas steam vouchers in the morning, buy an absolute glut of sales games and let them download while I'm out with the family, and get to playing them in the evening.

Ideally, Katamari Reroll, because the original really did make me appreciate and enjoy videogames again. It's only fair to devote my time to it again during the holidays, along with an umpteenth playthrough of A Link To The Past.

You play Steam games after buying?  What is this nonsense ;)

For some reason, my go to game every Christmas Day has become Animal Crossing on the 3DS. I just love dressing up as santa and give presents to every villager in town, it`s a lot more exciting than the socks and undies I get IRL.

Hopefully drop mix as I’ve got that for my Nephew and want to see exactly what it’s all about. Haven’t spoilered myself but ppl on here seem to think it’s great.

Hadnt planned on bringing a gaming device to my gf’s house but I suddenly want to now. Will have spent the majority of the day at my sisters house. Might even bring the SNES mini there actually.

If you're planning on playing Red Dead 2 on the day itself then plan ahead. It comes on 2 blu-rays and takes about 2 hours to install.

Seriously?! 2 blu rays?! My god!

I'm hoping for Red Dead Redemption 2 and the latest Tomb Raider. The chance of me being able to get access to the main TV on Christmas and Boxing Day is minimal at best. Thankfully my brother got me some excellent Switch games for my birthday back in October so I'll be getting stuck into those (Dead Cells and Axiom Verge).

Ooh, I'll be playing that. Kinect Sports always comes out for a few hours, too. Probably some Mario Party on Switch too.

Over the holidays I'm replaying Mario Galaxy 1&2. Really got a taste for it after playing Odyssey earlier in the year, and seems like the perfect time for them.

I'm really hoping to have a look in on my old Wii Animal Crossing town, but otherwise it will be New Leaf for sure - I love Animal Crossing and its seasonal event stuff. Otherwise I think Santa Jingle will be bringing a copy of Pokémon Let's Go! I'll be visiting family over Christmas which is probably for the best or my Christmas Day game would probably just be more Fallout 4.

Well, it turned out to be 'none of the above'.

Someone posted that the Grim Fandango remaster was on sale for the Switch, so around midnight I sent a request to Santa* and by the time I woke up, it had finished coming down the chimney** ready for me to play!

Still beautiful and the script is still sharp...

_________

* Bought it on the eShop

** Downloading on my crappy connection.

I had a couple of hours to kill this morning so stuck on my favourite walking simulator, DayZ. Clearly the least Christmas game ever. Met a fresh spawn on my travels. He ran up to say hello and despite me being armed to the teeth with four loaded weapons I didn't shotgun him in the face. This suggests I have fully embraced the Christmas spirit. I bought Rez Infinite on Friday and Ultrawings last night as presents to myself from the Steam sale so may dabble in those later when I'm able to get on again tonight.

I'll be at my parents house. So if I do play anything it will invariably be via PS4 remote play, so will have to be something slow moving. So I might get stuck into Dragon Quest XI.

Remote play decided not to work. I think because for the first time ever Sony asked me to reconfirm my password. I didn’t know it, so had to change it. I’m blaming Sony. I’m unbelievably bored.

I was gifted Smash today so dipped my toe into that before dinner duties.

What a big blast if fun it is too!

Me too! Just played my first hour of it and managed to win an entire 2 matches! It’s a lot of fun so far, but could do with my skills improving!

Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker.

I've been absorbed by it for the last few days and along with AC:Odyssey it's been one of the big surprises of the year for me. It's absolutely brilliant fun and more folk should pick it up.

Been playing Dropmix by Harmonix with my niece and nephew. It’s a card game where you drop sections of tracks on a board linked to a phone/iPad and it remixes songs on the fly. It’s fun and pretty damn cool. Can be found for under £30 on Amazon.

Check other sellers for a better price:

My brother brought Smash, so lots of Smash. He also bought me Smash, so there will be lots more Smash in the days/weeks/months to come.

Also played Crash Bandicoot, as I could quite happily knock a couple of levels out whilst everyone's sat about picking at cheese boards or whatever.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Batman Arkham remaster intending it for Xmas and started it Xmas eve with the intention of continuing tomorrow and Friday as I have the house to myself, but yesterday I bought Mario Rabbids, Crypt of the Necromancer and Into the Breach as they were all on offer.

I had been doing so well this year at only buying and playing one game at a time, Smash Bros is also on the go for when I have a few minutes here and there.
