Be brutally honest: Would someone like me who hates grinding, and tries to avoid games with grinding, get on with Hades?

I don't particularly like roguelikes and love this. It rarely feels like a grind as there is a lot of variety between weapon and boon combinations that make most playthroughs feel quite different.

I agree with @cassidy that this is not really grinding. You are not really repeating they same thing at all. Each run is very different. It is essentially playing a shorter Diablo from beginning to end 30-50 times running different random builds. The story progresses on subsequent attempts. After around 60 runs I have not really seen any repeated lines. You don’t really grind as you loose almost all after each run. You only improve very marginally from run to run but the little improvements build up over time.

Slowly but surely getting the 1000g achievement points. Although I swear the greater call acievement (use a gods call on themselves) is glitched as I have done it on elysium (using regen baddies to get it up) a number of times.

I swear having this game on quick resume is just amazing.

I can complete a run in about 20 mins no issues right now (unless I'm using arrows or rail) and just jumping in and out for a quick game.

For the call trophy, it has to be a greater call (full bar) to trigger. Its a bit tricky as the fights often don't last long enough to get a full bar, but I did it in elysium by letting one of the enemies regenerate continuously (guy with a bow).

Yeah, that's what I have been doing. I said specifically what you said lol

They may have fixed it in the interim but worth noting that achievements popping in Hades can be screwed up if you're using quick resume. Some seem to work OK but some don't and require a fresh restart for them to trigger, so that's possibly why you're not getting ones you feel like you should.

Started playing this again on Xbox having done so on Switch. Never completed it last time although got to the final world a few times.

Turned on God Mode just to take the edge off. Got through the first boss after about 4 runs and on my 11th or this morning just smashed through the second for the first time and then all the way through the third and into the forth. Only picked it up for a quick run but was nice and methodical and just destroying everything. Then panicked as usual with the new stuff and died quickly.

It's just such great compulsive gaming

And reached the final boss on run 15. Didn’t finish the first phase but nice to see progress.

I really really appreciate the way god mode works. I’m not someone who is ever going to play the 40-50+ full runs it would take me to be good enough to get a clear. But being able to do so without being penalised in terms of achievements and whatever is lovely.

My bad, I skim read it 😊

I'm up to 60 runs now, and the last 25 or so have all been clears. Still have a shit tonne left to unlock and had the horrible realisation that I'd been wasting loads of nectar trading for diamonds 😖

What were you using the diamonds for?

I reached 8 skulls and got an amazing reward.😀 One thing I think is sorely missing so far is the ability to actually visit the cottage after completing the main campaign. I was hoping for an animal crossing style game to unlock over there.

Yup. It's normally better to go for boons that increase rarity at beginning of the run and ones which increase levels later. I always get the increase rarity potion from Eurydice for example.

Know that increasing levels beyond about level 3 provides diminishing returns very quickly, however; if you've got something to level 2 or 3 already then it's normally better to increase its rarity rather than its level, if you're given the chance.

Had my first serious attempt with the bow and absolutely blasted through it!

Got lucky with two hammers though so not sure if it is always this good.

went with the rapid fire and the 200% damage for long range

I feel the bow can potentially be the most over powered weapon in the game.

I have had runs where I just use a homing special constantly and decimated everything in milliseconds.

Pretty sure I got my fastest run of 16 mins with it.

16 mins! That’s amazing I’m currently around 32.
