The Saturn Appreciation Thread

Thats the beauty of a satiator though, you can keep the disc drive intact. I thought of getting one, but to be honest for the price I can buy a fenrir and another saturn to play physical media if i wanted. So I have. Awaiting a nice Jpn Saturn, Fenrir and a pico style PSU.

I just love the idea of having all my fav games on my fav ever console loaded and ready to play. I know it's expensive but to me it's much more appealing that say a PS5 so I'm glad I made the decision to import one. Actually getting decent output from the hyperkin hdmi cable too, good enough I think to not have the bother with an ossc

Yes, I have a Hyperkin cable and its fine for my needs. But in my games room on my A Saturn I managed to get a RAD2X cable.

Having all the best (favourite) games easily accessible is brilliant. And as I favour arcade style games, I don't worry about just playing them for a few mins each before moving on to another. That is after all the idea of arcade games.

Well I have seen the videos complaining about added lag with the hyperkin, but to my 46yr old eyes and reaction time I honestly struggle to tell much difference. But let me just quantify that by saying the RAD2X is on my 55" Philips LCD TV and the Hyperkin is on my 27" Samsung Monitor. So it may not be a fair comparison. There was a time I went down the best visuals rabbit hole, now I just need to be able to see the games to play them.

That's not something I have noticed (I have 46 year old hearing too) however it is a known Saturn issue. Check this video at around the 7mins 20 mark.

I knew I'd heard that before somewhere! One of my favourite YouTube channels

Totally agree, it is one of the few channels where I re-watch the videos numerous times. They have caused me to spend a lot of money :) Of course now I shall be listening intently to the audio from my Saturn. Its would be disappointing if this hadn't been fixed in newer cables, however as I am using 2.1 computer speakers I can just swap the actual speakers over manually.

Dammit, seeing Saturn talk does funny things to me. I'm happy with my ODE, but the idea of a grey Saturn to play my originals appealed. So I wake to an "offer accepted" eBay email for a CIB VA0 Jpn Saturn. Oh well! :D

I never had a collection beyond Ultimate MK3 and Fighter's Megamix, so I definitely could do it to my console.

On a metric of average quality that's quite the collection.

I'm joking with regards to the Jaguar. It's just as easy target.

It's probably just me

Well I had a few minutes today so I fired up my Saturn with the Hyperkin Cable and it's not just you. Left and right audio are switched. I probably hadn't noticed before as my left ear is virtually deaf. But I got my good ear up to each speaker as I hit the sides in Sega Rally and it is true its all wrong.

On the plus side my Saturn that I had sent off for a switchless region mod arrived back today.

Well that's frustrating, not sure how it can be fixed?

Well I was booked in to see an ear specialist but then Covid struck...Oh you mean the Saturn. Well I can just swap over my speakers as its a 2.1 system. But the cable itself? I don't think so.

Hope you manage to get it sorted mate. Saturn wise I wonder if my amp will offer a reverse audio, or else I'll go mono I guess

No luck with amp. Looks like I'll have to either live with it, or find a new TV connection option :-(

I was doing some thinking and I found this,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B079251VBJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So the audio can be stripped out into a 3.5 phono which I should be able to manipulate maybe with 3.5 to phono cable....Its half an idea at the minute.

Seems very interesting, so image still through the hyperkin which I'm very happy with but audio separated. Could work
