Might be due to the textures being placeholders from a beta that was rushed out rather than being finished.

Yeah, I've heard that too. Never knew if it was one of those urban myths. The developers Tantalus did a credible version of Wipeout 2097 so it's probably true. Such a shame, as I loved HOTD in the arcades. I bought the Jap version with the black gun back in the day.

Street Fighter Collection arrived yesterday, can’t believe the price the PAL version goes for when the JPN one is so cheap?!

Watching the intro to SF2X brought back memories of playing the 3DO version back in the day, except now I can play it with a decent controller!

SF Zero 2 is great too!

I already have all these games in a MAME cabinet, but playing it on the Saturn with a CRT is better!

The best gaming era of my life is, well, right now actually! But prior to that, owning a switched Saturn and getting this, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Radiant Silvergun and Street Fighter Zero 3 was the second best :)

Why is pal SFC so expensive? I have it and I’m not sure myself.

It will be a rare release. That’s all this collecting malarkey is about and why I dislike it so.

I got a Jap copy recently for about £15 in perfect condition, and it’s not in horrible 50 hz.

Street Fighter Collection is a great compilation, superb versions of Super Street Fighter 2, Turbo and Street Fighter Zero 2 Dash (which at the moment is my favourite SF). Well worth a go if you like fighting games on your Saturn :)

I concur!

Isn’t everything horrible at 50hz?!

Only kidding... but a 60hz mod is so easy to do that nobody with a PAL Saturn should be left suffering.

Unless you count having games that are PAL optimised in terms of resolution (but obviously not refresh and frame-rate) having terrible overscan that hides loads of the screen...as suffering.

Cause it was the last third party game released in PAL, got a pretty limited printing. Came out after Burning Rangers, Shining Force III and just before Deep Fear release. Virgin had claim it was supposed to release in Christmas 1997, but there games were always heavily delayed. Late July/August 1998 was its final release date.

Also these days ebay sellers are jokers and just jack up the price for no reason to make as much ££££  as they can. I learn that all Saturn games are quite cheap in Portugal and Spain as the system was very popular over there, however some of them have cotton onto this and sell games on UK ebay at x4 times the price.

Street Fighter Collection is PAL optimised so the intros don't match the music at 60Hz, but that's about the only PAL fix they did.

Alpha 2 gold is the best title in the Alpha series, so I can see why it is so sort after.

Bought a "composite cable" off eBay (the cable with the red, yellow, white jack's) as I can't get to the back of my TV without taking it off the wall to plug in a scarf or RF lead and the relevant sockets are on the side for the cable ive bought. However when I've tried to plug the cable into the Saturn it's been a bit of a tough fit and I'm not getting a picture on the TV, also the access light flashes (would this be related to the picture?)

I know there were a couple of revisions of the Saturn, was the socket for the video cable different on them? If so how do I know which cable to buy?

Check that the pins aren’t bent on the cable, same connector on them all.

Red access light flashing is normal when there isn’t a disc in.

Also check there isn’t a broken pin stuck inside the Saturn’s connector. If there is, new connector time

I managed to fit the Phantom chip! So easy even a ham fisted animal like me can do it!

Anyway, I tried Shinobi Legions (pretty pricy these days so out of my reach). I like it! The 90s FMV cutscenes are amazing(ly bad) while the game itself is quite nice looking, atmospheric and plays well. It’s certainly a game I’d like to own in the future.

Does anyone have any spare case screws for the Saturn? Got my hands on a modded one but there aren't any screws holding it all together. Failing that anyone know which size they are so I can try some replacements?

Did you get this sorted?  If not - PM me your address :-)
