Another show joining the DC Universe shows. Not sure it'll be connected to Titans or Doom Patrol. This one involves the Justice Society of America. Brec Bassinger is in the title role and her alter-ego Courtney Whitmore. Also Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, pilot of Stripe, a 15-foot robot he invented. Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Rex Tyler/Hourman, Brian Stapf as Ted Grant/Wildcat, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/Dr Mid-Nite. Amy Smart also playing Barbara Whitmore, Courtney's mother and Pat Dugan's new wife.

Also Joy Osmanski, Neil Hopkins and Nelson Lee as Tigress, Sportsmaster and Dragon King, members of The Injustice Society.

The show is being run by Geoff Johns. Won't be coming until early next year.

Official synopsis

Quote

Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.

Second episode in the can. Still loving it.

Brainwave accidentally looking like he was perving on a 15 year old girl was a lol moment

Both episodes should probably have been out at the same time given it's essentially a single pilot story but a very good start to the series. Knowing some DC comics stuff I can already see some future plots forming. Especially with Brainwave's son.

I also get the impression that if Courtney ever makes a mistake she'll learn from the experience. Unlike Barry "I'm a fucking Idiot Allen" over on the CW who's elevated fucking up and not learning a thing to a near art form. I wish I could go back to watching that but it makes me so fucking angry. Stargirl at least looks like it's going to be a bit more cheerful.

Kinda hoping that the good response DC are getting to this will get us a new Stargirl comic. I think she's only appeared once since the New 52 started but with rebirth we can forget all that horrible shit and bring her back. Which makes sense given they're about to bring the JSA back as well.

Just started this on the praise its getting here and loving some JSA.

Three minutes in and i dont know i like it or not Ugly Wilson (Wes Andersons second favourite) running into a house shouting out all the JSA names Wildcat, Hour man etc but not name-dropping the villains.

And then out of nowhere Jeff Fucking Winger is playing Jack.

I am hoping to god this is going to get better fast cause all the hype is just hype right now.

Originally in the comics she had a cosmic converter belt rather than the staff and went by the Star Spangled Kid hence the all american hero style costume. In the comics she doesn't get the cosmic staff until after her original solo series with Pat/STRIPE. At that point she joins the JSA (Who aren't dead and are acting as a training group for legacy hero children).

Both her original comic and the Geoff Johns JSA are well worth reading if anyone is interested.

In the comics JSA the Star Spangled Kid and Starman are two completely different heroes as well. The comics Starman (Ted Knight) got a mention in the TV show as being the original creator of the staff

This took a bit of a weird turn in the 12th episode, revealing that the bad guys are basically socialists.

Then episode 13 finished with a rather blatant ‘Murica shot. Shit, did I just watch a MAGA TV show? And is that it over?

Funny this got bumped today as I just watched the pilot. I quite liked it. Enough to carry on and see the rest.

My concern now though is with it moving to the CW for season 2 the production budget is going to be laughable. Shame because the special effects were quite impressive.

The problem was the killing a huge chunk of the population to get what they want rather than the socialism. So a bit Thanos maybe.
