What would you prefer I do, lie?

Actually, yes.

And who cares how much it costs, pay however much you feel it's worth.

Anyway, whenever I look at any screenshots I can hear the music in my head. It makes me excited in so many ways. SO MANY WAYS.

How can you not understand!!

Look, if he wants to buy the games on format X that's his decision. Christ, I buy stuff routinely for my XBox as I presume it to be the best version. But, that doesn't change the fact that if I am interested in a game like BG&E, it's available for all three formats. BG&E, a game he was interested enough in to purchase, was available for PS2/XBox/GC.

So tell me, how can you explain the following (which is what you are apparently trying to do while throwing fanboy accusations at me):

I am not interested in BG&E (GC)

I am interested in BG&E (PS2)

Obviously once you have bought the game for your PS2, you are not going to go out and buy it again for your GC. But, it doesn't change the fact that it was a game you were interested in, and it was an option to buy it on the GC.

Christ, get over your unatural urge to label me a fanboy and you might see my point.

You are indeed correct.

I honestly cant believe I get a reaction like this for purely stating the simple fact that I havent brought anything for my GC for a long period of time. I never said there werent quality games on the system, its just that the recent releases (e.g. F-Zero, Billy Hatcher, Mario Kart, 1080, Donkey Konga etc) either havent appealed or have taken a backseat to other Games on other systems.

What would you prefer I do, lie?

No, no need to lie, just say exactly what you just said. That makes perfect sense. It's a million miles more descriptive that your previous post.

Indeed. And why would that be then? Could it be because - *shock!!* - you'd be 'uninterested' in buying it?

Hmm, yes yes!

But, it doesn't change the fact that it was a game you were interested in, and it was an option to buy it on the GC.

Nor did he say it wasn't.

Christ, get over your unatural urge to label me a fanboy and you might see my point.

You had no point. It was a knee-jerk reaction to a throw-away factual comment.

And it's all too common around here, I might add.

How is this a 'point'?

Why bother posting something so obvious then?

When someone says "It's the only thing that interested me on the GC since VJ" -- they are CLEARLY implicity referring to exclusives.

When someone says "It's the only thing that interested me on the GC since VJ" -- they are CLEARLY implicity referring to exclusives.

And that is obviously where we differ, as I just don't see that at all.

To me, if you buy a game you are "interested" in it. If that game was available for Format X and Format B, you were interested in a game for Format X and Format B. You will choose to buy the game on one or the other, but it doesn't change the fact that the option was there.

Any other way and the following statement, as you assure, becomes "fact":

"There have been no games that have interested me on my XBox, but boy is the PC rocking right now as I just bought HALO and it rules."

"There have been no games that have interested me on my XBox, but boy is the PC rocking right now as I just bought HALO and it rules."

The rather obvious difference there being that the Xbox version of Halo was out a significantly long time before the PC one, rather than later (and in a different region entirely).

Also, the above statement could be perfectly true if you'd only just bought an Xbox, or perhaps don't like FPSs on a joypad (ask Soong).

The point is, you reacted in a way that suggested he was overlooking something and it was inexcusable to "complain" about it, even though he wasn't.

But what if U-1 was a PAL gamer, had no interest in freeloader...

Can I nip down to Game tonight and get POP or BG+E, then?

Just what exactly have PAL cube owners had recently since 1080 or MK: DD?

What the hell have any PAL or NTSC owners had new since before Xmas?

Sorry I`ll make sure in future I make it perfectly clear my reasons for deciding to post something even remotely negative about the GC....in fact I dont think I`ll even bother if this is what happens as a result..Jesus!

That's right, I was the one throwing the "fanboy" comments around

-----------------------------------

Im just pleased because it finally looks like my GC is going to get some use.
WHY HAVE YOU NOT BEEN PLAYING GAMES YOU ALREADY HAVE ON A PLATFORM THAT IS HARDER TO GET THEM ON, AND THEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THERE BEING NO GOOD GAMES AT ALL AVAILABLE ON HERE??! BURN, HERETIC, BURN!!!

I'd personally prefer it if you didn't totally make stuff up and paste my name beside it thanks.

Paraphrasing.

And I'd personally prefer if you didn't over-react to throwaway comments and then demand explanations for perfectly reasonable statements. But it ain't gonna happen.

Story-telling more like ;)

Honestly, go back over the entire thread and if you find one instance of me either "over-reacting" or "demanding", quote it. I think you'll be surprised.

On the "over-reacting" front, you are looking for stuff like this:

There must be some kind of trigger in your Nintendo-obsessed head that clicks and automatically translates that into "TEH NINTENDO HAVE NO GOOD GAMES EVAR!!!11" or something, I really don't know.

Okie dokie.

Im just pleased because it finally looks like my GC is going to get some use.

He is pleased because his Gamecube is going to get some use, meaning his Gamecube is currently not getting any (oo-err) use.

Its been gathering dust for quite some time now,

because it hasn't been getting any use.

last thing I got on it was Viewtiful Joe when it came out on import bloody ages ago.

Which doesn't mean "the last good game that came out for the Gamecube platform was Viewtiful Joe", it means "the last game I purchased for the Gamecube platform was Viewtiful Joe".

No reasons are given, nothing to jump on.

Nothings really grabbed my interst on it since...Until now!

Now picture this;

Nothing on my Xbox has grabbed my interest lately, even though I've just ordered Sonic Heroes for my Gamecube. Does the fact that a version Sonic Heroes is also on the Xbox make me interested in it? No. the reason being because I have no need for (and no interest in) a game that I am interested in (or already have) on another platform. Meaning there are still no Xbox games that interest me now, even though Sonic Heroes is out for it, simply because - and understand this simple statement -:

The existence of one destroys the INTEREST in the other, it DOES NOT destroy the actual physical existence of it.

Is this perfectly clear?

And that's fair enough - but it means you can hardly wail about there being nothing available for your GC now can you?

And what you have successfully managed to do here is confuse INTEREST with AVAILABILITY. To re-use my Sonic Heroes example, the game is still AVAILABLE for my Xbox, but I still have NO INTEREST IN THAT VERSION OF THE GAME.

Therefore, this quote shows you either misunderstood or over-reacted. Perhaps both, but who's judging, eh?

I'd say your purchase of one destroys your interest in the purchase of the other. If by purchasing a game you destroy your interest in it, I pity you.

Eh? Why would it not?

I've just ordered Sonic Heroes for my Gamecube. Why would I now have ANY INTEREST in the Xbox version?

Step back a moment.

Before you physically ordered the GC version, were you interested in Sonic Heroes the game?

If you were, then you were interested in a game that was available on PS2/XBox/GC. You would therefore be lying if you said:

"There has not been a game on PS2 that has interested me since Fantavision"

Yes, you eventually purchased the GC version, but also yes you were interested in a game which was available for PS2/XBox/GC.

I'm going for a beer. I'll have a drink for you, and we'll (metaphorically) be friends running through a poppy field in nothing but Little House on the Prairie clothes. I suggest you do the same.

This shoulda gone to PM MANY posts ago.

Speaking of PM`s maybe, as a solution to threads like this, I should just PM all my future Nintendo related post to rgraves for editing prior to posting. Just incase any slightly daming remarks about the GC creep into them.

Anyway lets get this thread back on track, its supposed to be about MGS afterall...Its gonna be great. I cant wait. ..And I`d gladly pay full price for it (not that im going to as I`ll be getting the US version from boxoffice), as Sprite said earlier its still got a lot of replay value despite having seen it all before.

Yeah, this new Metal Gear game, I'm in two minds about it.

On the one hand there are many people who haven't played it and will welcome its release. On the other hand, it is a short game, a couple of years late, and would probably benefit from being priced at a more reasonable level.

EDIT: The start made no sense...

I cannot wait for this game, seriously i love MGS on the psone, its just so cinematic and fun, the voices, it draws you in every time, its like Speed, its just so engrossing, even though you know what happens time and time again. plus the extra graphical make over should make things slightly nicer too.
