Still waiting for Young Frankenstein to get to UK D+. It’s on Hulu in the US, and not available even for purchase on any other services in the UK like Prime, Sky or Apple.

“The Menu” has gone up surprisingly soon after the cinema. It’s one of those ridiculous high concept thriller premises that could be terrible if it was played too straight, but it threads that needle nicely.

I was surprised to see it had been added to Disney+ too, I only just saw it in the cinema mid-November I think.

It's a really enjoyable movie. Doesn't really hold up to scrutiny if you think too much about it but it's funny and unpredictable.

I enjoyed the menu, didn't feel the characters acted consistently at times but it's essential viewing for anyone who likes wanky cooking shows. Definitely more comedy than horror as well. Shame that all the shocking parts were pretty predictable but the performances were brilliant and it's hard not to have fun watching it.

Really enjoyed the first part of the Chippendales drama that has gone up - I'm a sucker for stuff set in that time period anyway and other than being aware of them being a big deal don't know anything of the story around the founder, which apparently takes a lot of turns.

As always never know with these things how accurate they are but at 8 parts all around the 40-45m mark the first one kicked things off quite enjoyably.

What the fuck is up with Disney+ not subtitling Foreign Language segments in their programs.

I've seen it a few times now, but trying to watch "Touch" is pointless since a character in the first episode speaks Arabic (thanks subtitles for letting me know that's what their speaking) and then in the second we have Russian (Thanks again subs for letting me know that is what it is).

I don't mind it for little bits like in Reservation Dogs when you know can work out the word is a "hello" or a "goodbye" but when whole parts of the Episode require you know to know what they are saying it seems stupid not too.

It's hit and miss too - we were watching Mayans MC the other week and a whole section of Spanish dialogue had no subtitles. In the following episode, the same characters had their dialogue subtitled!

That's even weirder.

I've tried silly things like putting on English (CC) Subtitles and still nothing. I wondered if it's an age thing but Mayans MC is quite recent isn't it.

I will send an email over to their customer services team but I don't imagine I'll get a reply as it's not going to make them anymore money from me.

I tried switching subtitles on manually too, but all that happened was that we got subtitles for the English bits IIRC. It was the latest season of Mayans, so quite recent to D+.

I noticed a new "adult animation" had been added to D+ called Little Demon.

Checked reviews out of curiosity and The Guardian had called it "Rick and Morty crossed with The Simpsons at its peak" . Strong words there, so against my better judgement I thought oh well what the hell.

That review was of course total bollocks. It was your average mediocre trying a bit too hard sitcom animation where it's main shock value is just really quite boring reliance on gore, and the teenagers seem written by people who seem to have little understanding of them beyond making jokes about them being all "woke".

My chuckle count remained resolutely in the single digits.

Comparing it to the sheer depth of cleverness of the best of The Simpsons is frankly baffling.

Disney app on phone i use for casting always turns subs on for me on everything, I turn them off and always come back.

Chippendales series is a trashy good watch, I didn't know the story/drama at all so having finished it off to see how much is true.

There’s a great mini docu series called Curse of the Chippendales which is free to watch on Prime.

I read the same review so watched episode 1. It's not bad. Nowhere near Simpsons peak as you say. Maybe the Guardian reviewer considers season 20 onwards the Simpsons peak though?

I don't think I'll ever watch any more of it.

And another called secrets of the chippendales murders on sky on demand, which claims ‘never before seen footage’

Doubt anybody needs to watch both but will a nosey round to see which of the 2 4 parters is the better watch.

I’d be surprised if the Sky one is better, the Prime one is fantastic. But if I had Sky I would watch that too, I’m a sucker for that sweet Eighties footage!

Ohhhh Alias is on here.

With no subtitles for foreign language parts which is great considering there is Chinese 30 seconds in.

If you watch it and have English subs for those bits let me know.
